 Predict Black Panther's 2nd Weekend Drop Just curious where people fall.
I feel that most are underestimating the film's potential to drop. I'm not rooting against the film by any means. It's just that given the demographics and the release date, it seems there's a lot of potential for a drop in the range of 2/3. Doesn't take anything away from the jaw-dropping opening.
I am currently thinking the drop will be in the mid-60's. I'll say 65% for now.

The new trend for well-received blockbusters seems to be solid second weekend holds due to fast-spreading WOM, followed by similar drops the next couple weekends as buzz calms. I think that'll happen here, with a 45% drop in its third and fourth weekend before leveling off.

Not saying that will happen this time, but we need the Wednesday/Thursday numbers to get a better idea. I think if it can stay around $14m for Thursday, it has a great shot at $100m for the weekend. This is based on Deadpool's second weekend grossing 7.06 times higher than Thursday.
