HP8 is not locked as it requires more than 41 further millions and BP comes from a 13M WW weekend. It all depends how/if it gets hurt by Rampage and IW.

At the rate IW is going it should past both next weekend as well.

It does seem like IW won't allow BP to reach #8 WW after all but BP should be able to maintain #9 for a good amount of time.

Next weekend IW will open in China, so it's an abolute lock to pass both next weekend.

Looks like with China's previews and Friday estimates IW crossed both BP and TLJ in WW total. Depending on how big China's weekend numbers are it could take over the original Avengers' total WW this weekend.

With the way it was so easily crushed by IW, maybe Black Peanut would be a better title.

It is compared to IW. Its worldwide gross has already been taken over in just, what, 2 or 3 weeks? Just proves that Bland Panther was only a phenomenon in one country. The rest of the world really didn't care.

I agree BP was bigger in mostly US but $650m+ OS is surely not peanuts.

2nd best OS gross for a solo MCU movie, behind only Iron Man 3. Surpassed Thor 3 and SM Homecoming with ease. Doesn't sound like chicken feed to me.

I agree Bland Panther would be a better title for the movie, but you can't dismiss the great BO success it has been out of the States (granted, a good part of that came from the event status it was able to create domestically, as China's performance showed - great presales translating to a just solid 65M opening, turning into a meh 105M finish - but still...).

China's run was indeed disappointing but given the WoM it got there it was expected.

Black panther is the definition of out doing expectations. Not only did it get outstanding rave reviews but the word of mouth was just incredible. Nobody predicted this film to make 700 million in the U.S. and nobody thought this film would do 600 + million overseas. As a matter of fact for the film came out everybody was worried that the overseas Market wouldn't embrace it but they did with open arms.
