I still think it will be close to this club's number OW-wise but with those reviews that total seems out of reach. It didn't have enough buzz to begin with, its coming quite close to TLJ (traditionally doesn't bode well from BO's perspective), the reviews while decent are far behind the latest entries. The only thing it has going for it is those pre-sales but given the franchise history and the boost from SW-day those numbers were expected.

Its going to do fine but don't be surprised if it does less than $400m, its doesn't have the "aura" of being the biggest movie this summer which is not great for a SW movie.

Not to mention, MD openers have an inner tendency to disappoint.

While in recent years MD is going from bad to worse SW is the franchise that can revive it at the least OW wise.

The only force Han Solo has is in his pants.

Reviews for this are decent, but not good enough to really push it beyond the fanbase IMO. It should have a good opening regardless, but I'm still not sure about the legs.

This is really going to test the Star Wars brand. It really seems to have 0 buzz outside of that fact.

I am sure it will have some family appeal from just being another SW movie and the only outing during MD weekend.

should be an interesting weekend.... I could maybe see a lot of casual walk-ups saving Solo. But this is really a litmus test for the franchise, especially the Disneyification of it. The Last Jedi essentially just came out, and left many with a bad impression (I fuckin loved it but whatever). No one seems to care about Han Solo's formative years. Memorial Day weekend has historically been a dud (in recent years). The buzz is scant. Reviews are only okay. I'm sorta hoping it flops. But I also would like to see it do well (maybe for Alden Ehrenreich & Donald Glover's sake? I dunno)

Its surely not getting past $170m 4-day now. And the drop in tracking is not a good sign and this is the second time. All signs point to a big but disappointing weekend.

It needs to get to $150m 4-day to be respectable. Let's see.

As I have said before whatever DP2 makes in 3-days this will do that in 4-days so I think it will do $125m 4-day and might not even reach $100m for 3-day.

It's funny that the quotes they chose to put in the trailer are "Huge Action" and "Big Surprises". Neither of which indicate anything regarding quality. Are the reviews really that bad?

Just saw the movie and what you said turned out to be true. Its a mess of a movie that tries to compensate everything with action as fails almost always.

It can't be worse than TLJ can it? I'm one of the biggest star wars nerds and TLJ left such a sour taste in my mouth at first I didn't want to see Solo. But then I realized he's Han Fucking Solo and came to my senses.

And Disney knows that Star Wars nerds don't have principles and will just see any old shit with a Star Wars logo attached to it, so they will forever drag the brand into the gutter and the box office will show them that it's what everyone wants.

Its a decent action-er (not good or great) but there is literally no SW hook/mythos here other than the general name/talks about it. Lower down your expectations in terms of seeing ANY big galactic or space war. Its just uses the space to travel from one planet to another (twice or thrice), the big space scene that I can take away serves as introduction to Falcon and Solo's first (uneventful) ride to space jump.

Its pretty subjective what you did or didn't like about TLJ so I can't see its good or bad than that. Solo's scope is MUCH MUCH lower than TLJ and there is pretty much no "major" twists or "surprises" here or possibly none are earned/explained.

Failed didn't even get to half of the OW goal and won't touch the domestic goal. Fandango has some explaining to do..... How could it supposedly outsell Black Panther presales but sell less than a third of the tickets on what is most definitely a bigger holiday weekend.

Yeah those presales were misleading.
