Is that $150m number actual industry tracking based on sophisticated marketing research, or just some random guy's prediction on that website?

New trailer is pretty meh IMO. If this is the marketing Disney is going to do for this film than I don't see it really appealing to anyone outside of the casual and hardcore SW fans. Now, that still might be good for an OW over $100M but unless the reviews are great I doubt it will have more than average legs.

I feel the reviews won't matter much to this movie. People might wait on WoM, I feel the reviews will still be good enough to get this a fresh rating.

It's Disney. It will get a fresh rating from critics. Will the haters come out and whine is another story.

And it got positive reviews from Critics. Only audiences didn't like it.

Crystal Skull also did not have the behind the scenes drama Solo has. That crowd could boo it out of principle.

That is indeed a good move. It will be good for the movie to have a good WoM ahead of its release. Even if the audience eventually don't like it the initial good reviews could only help its OW.

A $100m opening is no longer impressive, and certainly not for a Star Wars film. If it just gets a $100m opening, or even $115 or whatever, it has failed. It needs to at least beat Deadpool 2's opening.

A $170m 4-day is certainly do-able. That would still not guarantee $400m total (which it should still pass). A 2.5 multiplier (like Lost World, Hangover II, Indy 4) would get it to around $410-$430m.

So yeah - it really should open to $170m and not much less.

But aside from tracking which I don't think is accurate here I don't think there are any signs for this to breakout. $170m 4-day is still a HUGE opening with likely $140m+ 3-day.

I'll believe it when I see it. I don' think those numbers are impossible by any means, but I'm just not feeling that level of hype for this movie. Who knows maybe that could change in the next couple of weeks once the reviews actually hit.
