The latest trailer was better than the first. There seems to be solidly more buzz for this than for Warcraft or Assassins Creed. I think it can get a 30m debut but it will probably flame out with around 70-75m total unless it’s actually good which is unlikely.

I could see it doing Hitman numbers. But the one thing it has going for it is potential nostalgia for the Angelina Jolie films. In that aspect they probably should have waited a few more years before the reboot.

Why wouldn't it at least do on par with Warcraft or Assassin's Creed?

It still looks bad but there will be some appeal from the previous movies. The first sequel dropped about 50% from the original and I think this will see another similar drop specially since Jolie is not in this.

The new trailers and tv spots are pretty great. Definitely more optimistic now

It feels low-key. I don't get "forthcoming blockbuster" from it. Plus, it's a reboot, which adds to that feeling. And it's overly computer-generated (from what I remember - I haven't seen the latest trailer), with no star this time around, and (again from what I remember from the first trailer) there are a lot of night action scenes, which nobody likes.

I'll predict Aeon Flux numbers for it. Maybe a bit more since it's a known property and it's March. Let's say $17m opening, $36m total.

The original opened to 77m adjusted. The sequel did 33m adjusted.

Opening I don’t see below 25m.

I too think this will break $20m mark over OW. If its received well (highly unlikely) then it can reach $80m total otherwise its looking at somewhere between $55m-$60m total.

Overseas is really going to have to save this one because domestically I don't see it doing any better than Assassins Creed. If it can somehow crack $300M WW than it should be able to at least break even as long as the budget isn't ridiculously high like Prince of Persia or Warcraft.

With its Wonder Woman/#metoo-fueled run, I predict this reboot will net $150m+ DOM.

Not sure if it will do big numbers in OS but then again China could save it specially if it attracts the video-game crowd. Though it has been long time since the games were famous. It surely won't come anywhere close to Warcraft numbers in China, plus the first two movies were also released in China and while the market wasn't as huge back then those movies weren't big hits back then.

Tomb Raider means nothing in China. But it might play well enough just based on the fact that it's an action film with the words "Tomb" and "Raider" in its title; two words that are often used in successful franchises. A lot depends on its release date with China, so let's see.

Just saw the trailer. Indeed it is better but it's still not really good. Just looks like another CGI mess. But I think that trailer can get America to part with $35m on opening weekend, and then the reviews and WOM will stink so it'll finish with around $70-$80m. It looks like a quick action flick with no dramatic heft whatsoever. Just one death defying, music-stopping, slow-mo jump-and-grab to another, and our collective jaws are meant to drop because we've never seen that before.
