Well, here's the thing: The show will ONLY take into account performances within the calendar year of 2017. Jumanji was a tough one for me to consider cause I was only looking at its performance up until 12/31, but I thought it was impressive enough to make it with just those days.

You totally didn't just make up this rule!

I still can't believe how badly this failed. Its total gross was barely more than Hail, Caesar's opening day.

Downsizing is pretty embarrassing too. Had a pretty great trailer.

Good calls KJ - agree with both Suburbicon and Split.

I suspect Get Out will win Legs?

OK - impressive for WW. Didn't realise its legs were that good for a live action summer movie.

Thanks Magnus, this was good. Tho tbh if u included 2018 into Jumabji's performance it would be a bigger contebder. Who saw this get $300mil? It's gonna beat Spidey

I agree with IT. One of the best box office performances of all time

I disagree slightly with Wonder Woman ranking top 3. It did well but first superhero film for one of the famous ones had potential. I see BATB and Jumanji as more impressive

Boss Baby could be on overlooked good performances. 50 mil/175 is pretty good for a second tier looking animation

That's not overseas, it's a domestic performance.

^ That's also true for the actual winner in that category

Best Overall Performance might have to be revoked from It as Jumanji will make more than $800m worldwide, probably even beating Wonder Woman. It will be, what, $30m? shy of Thor: Ragnarok! And domestically, it will be the fifth largest grosser. I think that is more impressive than It. Just.

Its easy for an action/adventure movie with a decent brand value and Rock in it to breakout. IT is the highest grosser in its genre in a less favorable release date so the winner is clear. Though I agree its WAY ahead of Wonder Woman and Get Out in that category. Then again Magnus ditched it based on technicality.

OK maybe easy was not the right word here but IT was much more impressive in terms of genre comparison.

Well, we can all use qualifiers to make our own pick seem more impressive. You're using a genre qualifier. Mine:

Jumanji was much more impressive in terms of box office comparison.

Are you talking about total gross? Then yes Jumanji is more impressive because obviously and then ofcourse it defied a trilogy SW movie.

There are fair cases for both.

But I think Jumanji is the better overall performance just because it exceeded expectations so much more. IT was already strongly considered to touch the 200m barrier before it's release. While Jumanji, plenty thought it might not even gross over 100m but finally managed to outgross IT with ease.
