This has an 82 on metacritic. Definitely did not see that coming. Trailers make it seem like a throwaway cash grab for kids not old enough to see Homecoming.

Tough one to predict. Spider Man is huge but this feels a bit lost in the holiday shuffle, plus the cartoons regularly air on cable. I see $90-100m for it.

Reviews are excellent so far (100% RT - 44 reviews / 83 MC - 18 reviews).
I was already wanting to see the film, but the strong reception is making this more exciting.

I can see it edging closer to $150m now with the strong reviews.
The only issue for it is that it faces major competition on two fronts - from the comic/actioners Aquaman and Bumblebee and also from string animation holdovers that will still do well over Christmas (Ralph and Grinch).

This still looks unappealing to me. I’ll catch it on DVD but this is just not my kind of movie no matter how many animated movie awards it wins.

My God this still has an 100% with 51 reviews and a 9.0 avg.
Who would have thought that we would get the top two best review superhero films of all time in the same year

Sequel already announced I hope this makes all the money. Hopefully it convinces WB to follow suit with their DC characters.

The "sequel already announced" card is a big piece of misdirection bullshit. It means literally nothing. If this absolutely bombs, the next day that "already announced sequel" will be scrapped.

People are saying this is the best Spiderman movie to date. Ummm, what? Didn't see that coming. Not sure it'll translate into a runaway hit.
I see sub-$150m domestic.
Interestingly, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, an animated Batman film, is widely viewed as one of the best big-screen depictions of Batman. I agree.

Re: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse predictions (14/12/18)
This should be good for $40m OW and a $140-$150m total. Would be an excellent gross for an animated superhero film.
