... so who knows if this actually gets made but if it does it should be something to behold. No word on if it's with the current cast or not.

Looks like it's happening and will be R-rated (!!)

This seems like a mess of an idea. Where is the stylistic similarity between Star Trek and Tarantino's films?? Why not just make an original sci-fi film? Hollywood is like a necrotizing wound. Now is the stage where they just try cross pollinating not only characters ala Marvel but brand name directors and random dying film properties. Eventually people will see through it and stop caring entirely.

I'll see it, but this definitely seems like a bad idea. I think we need to wait until we see a trailer to make an accurate prediction, but it's going to alienate a lot of fans.

better hope the budget is small. R rated Trek? Sounds like a bomb in the making

This is really no risk and all reward. I'd always hoped Tarantino would take on an action blockbuster.

$70m / $200m would be my prediction.

No it won't. ST fans are almost as crazy as SW and I don't think the R-rating will alienate them.

Tarantino said he loves the first season of Star Trek (don't know which one, don't care), and he is also very good at imitation, so expect to see a full feature of something that looks right out of the 60s, but with some nudity and a few "fucks" for good measure.

I think it'll get a pretty interesting audience. Star Trek fans and people interested in a Tarantino blockbuster. Pretty interested to see how it all comes together, especially since it seems like Tarantino isn't writing the script.

The blend of drama and humor.

Johnny-Come-Lately franchise spectators (eg: JJ Abrams) forget that comedy was always an integral part of Star Trek.

$110m / $380m

I love Quentin's films as much as anyone, but let's not get too carried away here. It looks as if he isn't even WRITING it. That is something I find profoundly vexing. When was the last time he didn't write a script he directed? When I first saw that I did a double take. It reminds me of all the Coen brothers scripts they've written but NOT directed; those usually are of a lesser quality. In this case, Quentin is going to adapt somebody else's writing. So I don't know....

There is a brilliance to this:

Off hand I'm saying redo 4 and put them in 90s Los Angeles Quentin Style, or bring them to the Old West. Or a Guardians/Alien hybrid.

I'm game, as the reboot series is clearly diminishing even though I really liked Beyond. Tarantino has always wanted to do a big film like Bond, so I think he can shake it up.

And please, Phaser Mexican stand off ending to end the series.

Maybe he'll end up producing? I'd rather he directed a Bond film to be honest.

Star Trek is corny and lame which is why it's a non factor outside of Americans with nostalgia for the 1970s/80s. Let it die.

I love Barrabás. He is like a much more intelligent and informed version of BK.
