Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
I'm not shocked at Justice League given pre-sales through yesterday at my theatre were significantly weaker than Thor. Wonder is surprising to me. I wasn't sure how popular it would be outside of school groups (which we have TONS of early next week). We only had a small group this morning for Wonder, but it still destroyed today. It actually sold more tickets during the day than Justice League, but the senior discount went to many of those, so Justice League still made more because it was on the PLF. Wonder should EASILY cross 100M. We have over 1000 tickets sold for it between Monday and Tuesday in group shows. Insanity.

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
When is this last time a too-big-to-fail film like this disappointed so much? This is freaking Justice League. Sure BvS wasn't beloved but it did $166m OW. Man of Steel did almost $130m with Thursday included. Wonder Woman did $412m total just this past summer. Not reaching $100m OW is an absolute complete mess.
This is the Lehman Brothers of box office performances.

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
Come on, the wait time was too short. And BVS wasn't beloved? It was mostly fucking despised. And to remind you this is the same studio that fucked up the Matrix. They went from biggest R rated opening of all time to 133 million total in 6 months. The only thing that is surprising about this is that it's doing what we all knew it was going to do.
It's the best thing that could have happened. Schumacher has finally been dethroned. This isn't coming anywhere near to even the top 10 of the year. And I'd also like to point out that Batman and Robin adjusts to 208 million. If this does sub 100 million, there is a real possible reality of it not making it. I think it'll still save some embarrassment with Thanksgiving and do over 250 though.

Life is magical.

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
Well the signs were pointing to a BIG decline for JL so its not entirely surprising.
Brilliant for Wonder, those presales were really meaning something. Great to see a breakout for live-action family movie genre.

Yeah, I'm not sure where that Zack Snyder went. 300 seems to have permanently killed that guy.

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
While I believe it will likely end up at 25+, maybe a little lower due to group sales from schools, this is still a big win for Wonder. Legs will be great too. This is pretty much a mini The Blind Side if the numbers are correct. I'm very happy it's doing so well. A nice win for Stephen Chbosky. I adored The Perks of Being a Wallflower so it's nice to see him have a hit with this movie. Sure peope aren't seeing it because of him, but he seems to have done a nice job with it.

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
Yes I don't think Wonder will do $30m over the weekend unless it goes higher today with $13m-$14m. Those pre-sales numbers from schools definitely inflated its BO today.

Can't wait for next week when Superman is prominently in the marketing

Re: Early Fridays (spoilers: it's a bomb)
Snyder is usually a good director. Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel...all good to great. It's just since signing on to this DCU that he has become shit, most probably due to studio interference. Sucker Punch was also a slip up, but he is allowed one banana skin without being labelled a hack.

Not including Superman in the marketing might have hurt it. Justice League is supposed to have Superman, it'd be like Avengers without Thor or Captain America.

But BvS was heavily criticized for including Wonder Woman and Doomsday in its marketing. WB was actually listening to the fans on this.
