Early Thursday Numbers
http://deadline.com/2017/11/justice-lea ... 202210465/Quote: And here we go. Deadline sources inform us that Warner Bros./DC’s Justice League is looking at an estimated $11M-$12M Thursday night from previews starting at 6PM. On the low end, that’s what Wonder Woman minted before earning a $38.2M Friday ($103.3M opening). Some tell us it would be no surprise if the Zack Snyder film hits $13M. These figures do not come from Warner Bros. Based on these estimates, the notion is that Justice League could fly to a $110M-$115M start and a possible $37M-$40M Friday. Already, as of yesterday, Justice League has already collected $8.5M in nine countries spurred by Brazil, Korea and France. There are 38 more countries opening today. That would be a really rough start if that holds. Sub $100M for the weekend would be likely.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
Yup. Though there is an obvious pattern over past few years of films opening this weekend arriving on the LOW end of expectations.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
It's still early, but unless it goes up drastically I feel at best it will do $14-$15M which is still not very good. This is going to be a really sad weekend.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
$13m would not be great. Looks like this will go below Thor 3 OW afterall. Heads should again be chopped.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
It had to overcome some tough production termoil. DC is headed in the right direction just in time for the beginning of the end for the MCU (which will struggle after the Infinity Wars)

Some trump logic there. Oh no. I think you misunderstood my point. Marvel is king right now. But, after Infinity War (which will come near the first Avengers, if not exceed it) it will begin falling downhill. DC will then take over in about three years from now right after Wonder Woman 2.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
I disagree with that. Marvel has about 6 really most likely liked films on the table. DC has never had one outside of WW. BA is checked out and HC most likely is too. It's not like she's coming back for another DCU film. I doubt Gal will be a part of the new JL when they say they got their shit together.

I knew this would happen.
If not for Wonder Woman they'd be completely fucked.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
The series would be performing better critically and commercial if it were in the hands of any one of the regular members of this board. That is really saying something.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
I still don't think Marvel movies will start declining after Infinity Wars movies. They are definitely going to setup another set of Avengers and another earth saving troubles. Also the solo movies are doing gangbusters business still and till they continue doing so Marvel is not going to decline. Each year we see more and more superheroes emerging with their solo movies and potential threequels. Unless there is an overall superhero fatigue I don't think Marvel is going to slow down.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
I would argue that a Spider-man - Iron Man team up "only" doing the numbers that it did is an obvious sign of decline as is. If Infinity War doesn't reach 2012 heights, they never will again,

But its not a sign of decline specially with this being the third reincarnation of a troubled series.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
lol. Homecoming wasn't even close to an "Iron Man and Spider-Man Team Up" movie. It was a Spider-Man in college movie.
You DC nuts will try to bend everything to make Justice League and BvS look more of a success.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
That proves nothing. Come back to me when you see a trailer or poster titling it as Spider-Man and Iron Man: Homecoming, then I'll agree that it was a team-up movie.

Tsujihara is already in the hot seat lately, so a Justice League underperformance is not a good look, especially when it's been widely reported he's the one who mandated a 2 hour runtime. I'll be shocked if he survives the AT&T merger.

I'll be shocked if the AT&T merger happens at all (it's been 'stalled' now I believe), but I can see why he might have thought a shorter runtime would work. Unfortunately, he didn't realize the problem was Zach Snyder. Audiences loved Nolan's long Batman films. They loved The Lord of the Rings. They even liked Peter Jackson's King Kong pretty well. Because those were examples of quality filmmaking and you wanted to remain in those films for the 3 hours. Zach Snyder convoluted CGI messes? Not so much.

Re: Early Thursday Numbers
Snyder seems like a solid ideas and big picture person but he does not work as an executor. It's been obvious since MOS.

People knew it was an Avengers spin-off for Spider-Man with Tony Stark lurking, and even that will make more money than a fully-fledged team-up tentpole featuring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash. Even It will make more. lol. It's not looking good.

It still made more than Suicide Squad which everyone knows was a Batman movie. Obv.
