The reviews are like better than “its good but not great” as well. On average, it seems to be received about as well as the first Guardians.

Most praise the comedy, which is what I've always enjoyed from the Thor films.

The reviews fit with the standard Marvel formula which should be great for its WoM.

Yeah its still very far fetched. I don't think Thor will move to $300m club just from the trailers. Marvel movies have been getting frontloaded as well so $125m would not guarantee $300m+ total.

Also this is a very important stat for their respective openings even though the ticket sales started at different times its pretty important stat to highlight that JL will open bigger and Thor will have to do a catch-up.

Justice League may open bigger but its legs will be shit because DC are shit.

MCU movies haven't been getting a bigger multipliers recently as well.

If it opens to $125m and has the same multiplier as Spider-Man: Homecoming, it makes $355m. That was a summer release. So let's do the same as Doctor Strange...it makes $341m. There's no way this makes less than $300m if it will open to $125m.

I'd say it's 50/50. Since Thor comes out first, and seems to have great reviews. I think it is good chance.

I don't think JL has that Avengers 600+. Just feels like another film

The trades have Justice League tracking at $110m. May still be early though with Thor skewing things.

Spidey had great late legs which I don't see Thor having with JL releasing so soon. I do think Thor can reach $300m but JL will open to $150m+ and do $300m by default.

That would be disastrous but its too early and as you mentioned Thor is currently having all the marketing to itself.

Regardless its just funny that we are comparing the second sequel of a single MCU character with the first time team-up of biggest DCEU characters.

The promotional budget for Thor must be astronomical, there's been saturation marketing in every media for weeks now - yet 2/3's of the tickets remain unsold for Thursday's opening preview at my local IMAX. On the other hand, I've seen barely any promotion for Justice League, though I imagine they'll wait till after Thor's opening weekend to start pouring on the cash.

Disney has enough money at this point for it to pour money into these MCU movies so I think it should be fine, I believe a lot of it has to do with Thor continuing after Infinity War movies.

Thor is definitely effecting the early tracking for JL, and I also remember tracking underestimating Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad quite a bit too. I'm still expecting a $150M+ OW which I don't see Thor coming anywhere near, although it's obviously still going to do really well.

I think Suicide Squad opening is the most this could do, which would be phenomenal.

Absolute mess if this happens.

I'm honestly not surprised. There's a bunch of factors going into this...mainly BvS and Suicide Squad being badly received and dampening anticipation for future DC universe instalments, but also the fact that Wonder Woman barely finished its run and she's already the focus of the ad campaign. That's three movies with Wonder Woman in it in less than two years. Audiences get tired of things, even the ones they like. The trailers also look like another poorly lit CGI mess.

Opening night traffic at the biggest Imax theatre in town. First showing was pretty full, not sold out technically. Audience was not really engaged in this. For the amount of comedy there wasn't huge amounts of audience laughter which was surprising. After I got out there were no lines, no nothing. Theatre parking lot wasn't even full. Maybe half full.
