Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Like the Batman installment, I wouldn't expect Ninjago to attract a lot of girls. The market is wide open for a top-tier animated film, though.

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Wow I didn't realize reactions for Kingsman 2 were so mixed. It's at 60% right now and will likely go rotten once more reviews come in. I don't see it affecting the OW that much, but it's legs will be interesting, especially with Blade Runner 2049 coming up. I feel like if that gets great reviews it will definitely take off, and overshadow Kingsman's late legs.

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
It's kind of a shame that Kingsman 2 seems to be wasting the potential of the first film. That seemed like such a natural WOM hit, and 2.5 years is an ideal time to wait for a sequel, and even that first teaser was pretty good....but I am beginning to question whether it'll out-open that first movie.

I love that the most played drive-in double feature this coming weekend is Ninjago paired with IT .

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Surprise! Apparently Stronger is getting a semi-wide release. Seems a bit sudden. Not sure how marketing has been, but I think it can at least do $1.5 million for the weekend?

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Yeah I'd say awareness and interest is certainly high. The issue is whether people judge it as theater worthy. The fact that it will be the only real alternative to It in a while should help.

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
I'm kind of glad it's opening now when there hasn't been much setting the box office on fire outside of IT recently. That will certainly help it out. Really hope it does well enough for a third.
It's so weird that Ninjago showed up on MT Monday and has been totally missing ever since while Kingsman has been present since when, Tuesday morning? That's currently #2.

Ninjago finally shows up (again). Provided there are no previews for it tomorrow night, it has a good percentage. But it's another story on Fandango. Kingsman is outselling Ninjago by 2:1 on that site.

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Reviews are bad for Kingsman. Will probably affect it, especially with a stronger option for families (Ninjago) and IT still being pretty big ($30m+ weekend not unlikely?).
Also, Blade Runner 2049 is coming so it's not like Kingsman has no competition. That film is going to suck up its young male demo.
I'm sensing a $45m OW for Kingsman right now.

It does have a couple weeks though before Blade Runner. If it does open around 45 Million it should get close to 100 at least.

I think if the reviews were better it could have gotten over 50 million, but will have to settle for 40-45 right now.

The Nut Job 2 looked like a shit breakfast. Leap! looked like a shit lunch. Ninjago looks like a shit dinner. Which is why I think Ragnarok will breakout big because of many months (by that point) of nothing for children, and they added Hulk which makes it look really fun and cool. Yeah though even a shit dinner seems ok when the slop served up previously was even worse lol. I'm thinking you are right in the interest for this just really isn't as big as I originally expected. Am downgrading to the mid 30's now.

first Kingsman did $1.4m in previews... I'm gonna guess this one will do at least $2.4m.

Apparently it's flopping hard tonight with some theaters not selling a single ticket. I'd probably flip Ninjago and Kingsman around too. Also I didn't predict it but Stronger will definitely make the top 10. I didn't know it was going so wide when I made my predictions as there wasn't an estimated theater count available.

Re: September 22-24 Predictions
Wondering if Friend Request might set a record for the lowest R-rated horror opening in 2,000+ theaters? Excluding the Saw re-release, Friend Request would have to sink below 2007's 'P2' ($2.1m). We've sold 3 tickets for all of today so far.
