Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I feel like what will happen is that some theatres start showing films again, then there's another outbreak because of it, and then other theatres shut down. Hollywood realizes they're going to lose a ton of money by trying to open and then having to cancel movies in the middle of their run, and just decide to release everything on streaming + VOD until 2021.

The movie's budget is OVER 200 MILLION DOLLARS! they'll be treating this like all big budget movies. If by June things are not back to normal than it's going to get pushed back for sure.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
If Tenet releases in December it has a decent chance at a BP nom. In July that chance is reduced to 0.

And if the situation doesn't change the BP lineup will be:
Bad Boys for Life Sonic Birds of Prey The Invisible Man Call of the Wild Dolittle Onward The Boy 2

Not zero if Tenet get Palm d'Or at Cannes Film Festival that is expected to postpone to early July. But the committee has to decide that the film is suit for main competition. In 2015 Cannes committee pushed Mad Max to out of competition, many expected that if it's in competition it can win Palm d'Or and had higher chance at winning Oscars best picture.

Why move this unless they're expecting TENET to flop?

This is irritating as if the movie was in the can then moving it summer was useless. They should've just stuck with November 2019 uggggh

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I don't even know how the release schedule looks right now, and while October has shown it can produce big openings and blockbusters recently, why not go for a November/December release instead? Assuming we're all still here by that time (2020...) and things are mostly normal regarding theaters being opened, I'd think people would "swarm" (as much as they can assuming capacity limits) to theaters over the holidays.
Unless they're thinking October over November/December in case COVID-19 spikes in the fall, potentially killing the box-office again in the winter months... Or some constitutional crisis beginning if Trump loses the election but refutes it, causing mass rioting. You know, just normal #2020 events now.

They are trying to avoid Black Widow and Bond, and I guess they don't want to move Dune.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Yeah I think Black Widow and Bond should be moving based on WW and not the other way around. I do see Corpse's point, I am not even sure how October will look like, its not the biggest month for movies and even with COVID-19 situation the more people go back to their routine I expect their workloads will also increase so keeping this in November/December would have been the better option.

I would assume the WW move is to see if it's a good idea for The Batman to stay there the following year.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I would say with 99% confidence this is getting pushed back, most likely to mid-December in DUNE's date.
Theaters should only go up from here. If the vaccines actually do arrive and work around 11/1 as discussed, WW84 opening in mid-December could be poised to make some serious money.

WB would really screw theater owners over if they pushed this.
