I think Jumanji had the luxury of movies outside BP not blowing up. In case of BP after IW, its DP2 and Solo and the rest of the summer to follow so it won't hold enough theaters like Jumanji. Though I still believe Disney will push it past the mark.

Coming down to the wire now for $700M, might take another 3 weeks at the dollar/second run theaters to do it or hopefully Disney will do an expansion like they did with AWiT late in it's run.

Looking at past blockbusters at this point in its run and with the drops it is having, it is by no means guaranteed to hit $700m without an expansion. I’m a bit nervous.

Come on it did almost $250K this weekend and needs another $870K regardless of the drops it will get there. Plus I am sure Disney will do EVERYTHING in their power to get it past the mark. If nothing comes they might release ID2 with BP in double-feature to get it past the mark.

Less than $100k now to $700m and down to 28 theaters after 150 days/21 weekends. Will probably be completely pulled from theaters in the next week. So during it's initial run it will not make it but an Oscar re-release is sure to push it past Avengers adjusted.

I think I'm starting to understand the logic behind the slow crawl to $700 m. If they have some control on the weekend it passes that milestone, perhaps they are trying to push it to happen in the fall somehow or closer to awards season to get it additional press? Passing over the summer would have little value for an awards campaign. Can't think why else...

Well Disney put it back into a few theaters this weekend, so it should clear $700m on Sunday, if not Saturday. It's definitely going over this weekend anyway, so Passionate Thug should get his celebration ready.

Really impressive though I expect a flood of films will do $700 m in the next 3 years. Prior to 3 years ago only 4 films had done $500 m +. Now we'll have 4 doing $600 m+ opening within 7 months of each other.

It wasn't making much in its multiple re-releases so Disney had to give that final push. I think it won't make sense to re-release it in just another 3 months or so.
