I think this will do well. It will see a precipitous drop from the last's opening, but it will not be as sever as Insidious 2 to 3. I think 27m OW, 85 total. Please merge this with another thread if they already made one. I seem to remember there being one but I could not find it. |

Reviews are great ( https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/annabelle_creation ) but I have always thought this would drop pretty big from the first. The first wasn't that well liked and this is a prequel which might turn some off. I wouldn't care about this one at all if it weren't for reviews. Sounds like it's much better than the first though. I'm thinking a total somewhere in the 47-55 Million range. I will say putting Ed and Lorraine Warren in the recent TV spots is smart. |

Reviews for this are great, but it's still a prequel to a film not many people liked. I will do better than I initially thought, but I don't see it going anywhere near the first movie even with good legs. 23/50 |

28/62 It's pretty good but nothing special. Though it's fun seeing the little girl from OUIJA 2 watching her friend live out the exact same possession plot from that movie. |

With this week's openers seem to fail this weekend, if The Dark Tower and Detroit fail to break out, I think Annabelle can pull it off. WB should've moved switched this with IT in terms of release dates. |

The marketing I've seen has linked it to the Conjuring rather than the first Annabelle. Not to mention Conjuring 2 did well last year. Maybe that can soften the blow the original took to the franchise. |

Yeah the marketing for this seems to be picking up here as well. I do think this can do well as there hasn't been any horror movie for quite sometime now which will help. |

$30m / $80m Well it's a horror and we haven't had one in a long time + people might finally have something new that looks interesting (that didn't have marketing that sucks) in theaters + it has good reviews. $30m is more due to the fact that the market has been dead these past few weeks in terms of new openers and something has to benefit from that - so Anabelle has things perfectly set for itself. |

It's also kinda funny that this might follow the exact same review pattern that Ouija 2 did from its predecessor (from 38 to 65 for Ouija, currently from 37 to 69 for Annabelle), and do so by making a prequel that shows the origins of the cursed object from the original film.

If I had to bet, I'd go with them actually not showing the creation of Annabelle, but instead just showing what happened to an earlier owner of Annabelle than the owner in The Conjuring and Annabelle. At least these films can be jumpy, unlike the Child's Play franchise which is just shit. |
