Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
This is being hyped big time by the media and on a heap of "most anticipated films of 2018" media lists going around. $200m is a good chance.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
$45/$120m
It’ll get families/urban audiences out in theaters and slowly eke out a respectable $120m
+/- $5-10mil

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
Yeah I've seen this in a lot of most anticipated lists of 2018. I think this will open well the legs will depend on WoM and reviews.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
I think that it’s position on most anticipated lists may be inflated by how soon it comes out, and the fact that a lot of year end films have no trailers or marketing yet. But I do think it will not bomb at the very least.
If this first one did well, I wonder how the sequels might perform. Would probably drop big a la Narnia as the other books aren’t well known unless the first is AMAZING.
I do think that the first Narnia is the best comparison in terms of the type of film it will be. If this were coming out in December it would be way bigger, probably.

I'm starting to think this will do well. It looks weird but I think it'll get the kids and female demo out.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
Obviously the nearly all black cast made Black Panther an event for not just Marvel fans but people of color all over the US. I think the several black actors in lead roles should be able to lift this out of Tomorrowland/John Carter territory for a 40-50m debut.
Plus, everyone who saw The Last Jedi and Black Panther will have seen a trailer for this. Everyone in the country will know it's out.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
Yep I am still sticking with my $65m/$200m prediction for this. Its coming out at the right time in terms of school holidays and it looks fresh and different enough from the regular superhero and SW movies for the family audience to watch.

Should open to 50 Million or so. Thankfully none of my friends think this one looks good so I won't have to go see it. Looks bad to me despite a pretty good cast.

Yep it looks weird but that's the sell IMO and it looks great visually.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
I saw on Deadline that early tracking for this was around $35M which isn't too bad three weeks out, so I guess a $40M+ OW isn't too far fetched afterall. I think it will really come down to reviews on how high this goes, but its possible BP can have some kind of positive impact on it as far as its appeal towards women and urban audiences.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
Yeah $35m+ is good tracking. I am not sure how much BP will impact it (positively or negatively) but this will surely get exposure due to that. Also a black female director would get a lot of support and then we have Disney's marketing to back it up.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
This film's trailer is playing in front of BP so its getting unprecedented exposure among its target audience. That should help it to a $50m+ OW.

Low to mid 30s OW. Book it.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
This is going to get to like 97m, so embarassing it will miss 100m by that much. Maybe Disney can double feature it with Avengers to push it over.

Re: A Wrinkle in Time Predictions
The overseas performance is what's really tragic. Usually that's the saving grace for fantasy films but it might not even reach $100m.

This will see another big drop this weekend with AQP and Blockers taking away female audience so I don't think this will reach $97m, I see more like $95m total. Just realized it made only $21m OS that's really embarrassing. Does it have a staggered OS release or something? That is way too low for this kind of movie specially given that Disney was behind its release.
