looks like Apes is doing similar to Star Trek Beyond last year. What is with audiences rejecting totally good installments in these sci fi franchises? 

Market shares belong to certain franchises now and there is an over saturation of the market with blockbusters

I agree. I think the trend is towards superhero movies and original blockbusters. Plus Star Wars is quite filling up the quota with a steady sci-fi franchise that most people seem to be watching.
