Was announced that Simon Kinberg is directing. Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and most of the Apocalypse cast is set to come back (no mention of Evan Peters though which is a bummer). Jessica Chastain is in talks to play the villain. Domestically this could possibly do worse than Apocalypse unless it gets great reception. It's going against Mulan (dumb) and later in the month it has Fantastic Beasts 2 and Wreck-it-Ralph 2. |

I am sure Evan Peters is coming back. I am surprised that Lawrence and Fassbender are coming back. Not sure if I like the idea of Kinberg directing. |

This will likely be the lowest grossing X men movie of them all. Audiences prefer Wolverine and the old cast. Kinberg directing doesnt inspire confidence 120m |

Still X-Men, still a good cast. I don't think it will do worse than Apocalypse either, hope it will be good and it will help to do better. I'm fine with Kinberg too, first time directing, let's see how he'll do. |

I believe it will perform very similarly to Apocalypse. Slight increase, slight decrease, a negligible move in either direction. |

Yeah there's nowhere left for this franchise to go, but down. Apocalypse pretty much destroyed any good will FC/DOFP built up and without Wolverine general audiences have even less reasons to care. |

A friend of mine gave me the rundown on the current script and it sounds like the thing I'd like least from X-MEN: a more serious GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY knock-ff. |

This is the ultimate X-Men story, so if done right it really should bring the franchise to its height... but after Apocalypse I really doubt that it will. Wouldn't be surprised if it does $60m/$150 max. |

I think Apocalypse is the best this can do. Though I feel this will do slightly lesser with $145m total regardless of the reviews. The new cast didn't connect with the audience enough. |

The series sadly feels passe at this point. Logan did a fantastic job of reinvigorating Wolverine, but he's not in this. OW in the low $40s, total around $100m, and about $200-$300m overseas seems likely unless it's absolutely amazing and a radical departure from the look/feel of the last few films. Probably the end of the current incarnation of X-Men. |

I think Fox should have waited a bit more before rebooting. The new cast just couldn't bring in the audience back and they continue to fail, though the good news is that these movies are getting good OS audience now. |

I'm starting to feel this may do better than Apocalypse. Mainly because I expect much better reviews and a similar opening, which could lead to 175m+ total. |

I think this could do better too. Apocalypse's biggest problem is it was a step down from DOFP. At least here X-Men in space is different. They need a strong actor in there for villain too. |
