Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
Years ending with a 9 just aren't good for this franchise. Origins happened in 2009, now in 2019 the franchise will go through another potentially franchise-killing tussle....twice. Surely it cannot survive in its current composition. I look forward to what's next in the X-Men franchise. I'm already looking beyond these two disasters. There's nothing to see here.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
It looks fine but there's just way too many X Men movies. This will perform like Genisys. I can't believe JLaw is still willing to play Mystique, and they'd be crazy to be paying her 20 mil for this

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
Well, if I had to guess I'd say she only participated in this one if it was a small role, so they killed her off. No way is she getting $20m.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
The X-Men will only recover when they are incorporated into the MCU. Even then, hopefully Marvel wait a little while before doing so.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
I can’t wait for the do-over/2nd reboot. I remember dreaming of an X Men movie in the 1990s. Since 2000 it’s been an embarrassment of riches. I love the franchise from a fanboy perspective having grown up on the animated series. I’m not fatigued at all. Run it back with a new cast and approach in 2023 or so. I like the idea of MCU incorporation. Perhaps with Fantastic Four...

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
I thought the new trailer was really good. Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War prove a movie like this can rebound, but the buzz and trailer views don’t seem to be there. I still think it might have a shot at 150m, which isn’t much to ask.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
The new trailer is leagues better than the first one, but still not nearly as epic as the saga warrants.
Hopefully, if nothing else, it will be an improvement upon The Last Stand.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
Disney/Fox sale is official on March 20th. So does Disney have to market this now?

Reports suggest it may go straight to Disney+

So it is much more valuable in that role domestically rather than being the embarassing flop it seems destined to be. The ~$300-400M from overseas would be a tough loss though.

Could they release it in theatres overseas and on Disney+ domestic? I don't think Disney+ will be launched in time for this anyways

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
Yes that would make sense. Delay DP to whenever Disney+ launches but release it overseas on time. There’s the risk of piracy and the whole thing sounds unwieldy but that way Disney doesn’t miss out on the int’l dollars.
Or, put the film Disney+ as soon as it starts falling in the domestic market.
It needs the theatrical window to qualify for Oscars. ;-)

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix predictions
The new trailer is good. But I still don't really get her powers. It seem she can just do anything, which is impossible to turn into an interesting film. It also, once again, looks like the X-Men are supporting characters in their own film. And the narrative here is boring too. One side can see the threat and wants to destroy her, and other side is her friend and wants to calm her down.

That sounds like Phoenix in a nutshell, which is why aside from the original Phoenix/Dark Phoenix arcs, it's never been an interesting development for Jean Grey. I think it's technically still telepathy and telekinesis, but amp the latter up far enough where you can manipulate virtually anything and it's just... too much.
