Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
Yeah, unless it's massively frontloaded and the Cinemascore doesn't pan out, this might end up still happening just with a very impressive way of getting there.
It probably won't, but unless The Mummy explodes, June's kinda dull.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
I'd put this at 50/50 leaning towards yes. Regardless, WW is the more popular film

I don't see how this happens. It will need a good bit over a 3X multiple.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
Yeah I don't think it will be easy for it to get past $330m. The dailies are decent but nothing suggests that it will hold well from here on. I think it will do $260m-$280m which is decent for superhero movies.

With the Sunday hold, I'm actually predicting a 3.2 multiplier.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
The Sunday hold is great and certainly encouraging but I'm not onboard with a 3.2 multiplier yet. It will have to prove it's a different type of superhero film through dailies.

Yeah I am not entirely sure with 3.2 multiplier yet. MoS's first Sunday was brilliant as well.

Someone is bitter today..ugh.
Yes I wasn't sure on the Father's Day part, was wondering how it was that high, still I believe it would have done about 20% drop on Sunday at the worst.

Wonder Woman by far had the best drop(even stronger than Captain Underpants and family flicks have stronger sunday holds). On the other hand during MOS 1st sunday, you will see couple of movies(STID and IM3) even increasing. So the impact on MOS was huge.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
Its not hard NOW when I realize it was Father's day but this was its OW and its hold is still slightly better than the regular Father's day boost.
I never said WW didn't hold well, it DID but that hold alone doesn't guarantee great drops for its overall run. Also I have noticed in recent years that superhero and blockbuster movies tend to do well on Sunday's.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
This is reminding me of my Maleficent club 3 years ago. Anything above 300m is fantastic for WW. Hopefully the relatively crappy release slate will keep this chugging along.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
It could still be the case of a great second weekend. I don't see the path being easy but this weekend's drop definitely makes this much easier than last weekend.

It doesn't get a pass for a 3.0 multiplier just because it's a female superhero. Sorry. If it just manages $300m it will be a disappointment. It needs at least $350m.

Re: Wonder Woman>BvS club
Nah. I believe $300m is good enough for for WW. There were signs for that, the relatively smaller budget, the industry expectations (also on the board on an average). I don't think it was easier for WW to do $100m OW and unless the reviews came out it was actually not going to happen. Now its the case of great legs. I do agree that $300m is not out of ordinary for a first female superhero movie but its surely not disappointing.

I do agree that $300m is not out of ordinary for a first female superhero movie but its surely not disappointing. It only needs a 2.66 multiplier to get to $300M Domestically. Even if it falls hard like Man of Steel (2.96 from its 2nd weekend), it will finish with $315.4m, which is the minimum. It only needs a 3.2 to pass BvS. Unless Cars 3 and Rough Night pull what Cars 2/Bad Teacher did last year, I can't see it finishing less than $300M, let alone less than $315.4m. The competition is weaker and much better WOM for WW than it was for MoS.

I agree - I don't see why this is going to be so much bigger than Captain America, Ant-Man, Thor, and Doctor Strange. Famous character, sure, but it's not the first we've seen of her, so there's no novelty factor. Child, bye.
