I wonder how big The Circle can open. I see it doing $15m OW and then depending on the reviews can have decent legs.

Latin Lover should do modest numbers at $6m

Sleight - $2.5m

The Circle has performed poorly on Twitter, which is a bit ironic.

Will be very interesting how Latin Lover does. The guy's last movie did great and it has a good number of Facebook likes.

But it's only opening in around 1000 theaters and has practically no twitter activity.

Is this one of those films that targets the Spanish demographic and leaves my head spinning Saturday morning?

It would seem so. I also think it could be hurt that it's title and poster make it seem like an R rated comedy, when it's actually PG-13. I really don't know if this will bomb or be more like Instructions Not Included.

1,000 theaters or so is plenty. The widest opening for a Pantelion film. Instructions Not Included opened to about 8 Million in 348 theaters. This one could also be helped by having more appeal to Caucasians too. My brother said to me last week there was a really funny looking movie coming out soon that we should go see. I was like, "Which one?" To my surprise he said this one.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion should break some records this weekend too. Already #4 with 6% on MT.com and it's opening in a record 800 theaters across North America which is the widest for a Bollywood film.

Yeah, and Thursday previews for Baahubali 2 (Telugu) are $30 for adults, almost 3X the normal price for an adult evening ticket. The Tamil version is $25. That drops to 23 and 20 after Thursday, but those prices are still ridiculous.

The Circle - 9.5
Latin Lover - 6.5

Sleight will only be in 550 theaters so it'll probably be super low.

Those are regular screens? It's also going to have IMAX screens.

Ugh these Baahubali movies really don't deserve as much attention as they are getting. Also the South Indian side of movie-goers are crazy so they will pay even $20+ dollars to see this one first.

Quote:
The U.S. distributor, Great India Films’ Sudhakar Reddy K M, who with his partner Soma paid a record $7 million-plus for theatrical rights, is launching Baahubali 2 on more than 1,100 screens including 45 IMAX locations and 45 other large-format screens on April 27. “Pre-sales are amazing,” Reddy told me today.

Telugu360.com’s Chicago-based editor Krishna expects the Thursday previews to generate $4 million and takings to reach $10 million by Sunday. If that pans out, the title is sure to eclipse the record held by Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal, the biopic starring Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, which amassed $12.3 million last year.

That news is alright but comparison's to Dangal aren't fair. That movie didn't have those HUGE ticket prices and it was an original so its run it still very very impressive and would likely have 2-3 times more admissions given the ticket price.

I guess the idea with Sleight is to target urban areas. But there is just no hype.

Free Fire doesn't seem to be enjoying the standard-for-a-wide-release fourteen days of play. It is closing at a lot of Maryland theatres on Thursday. Catastrophic drop in order.

It is highly unlikely but would be hilarious if Baahubali 2 topped the box office this weekend. At best though it could beat out The Circle. I wouldn't be surprised if it were #1 on Friday though since they are expecting Thursday shows to take in 4 Million alone.

I hope not. The franchise is great on technical level but its quite a bore in terms of storytelling.
