I see this doing very well in a dead month. The trailer is hilarious. This could do really well or get completely lost but given that there isn't much in August to watch aside from Dark Tower this could surprise. Atomic Blonde which would surely be another R-rated Action movie will be 3 weeks old by the time this releases.

Reynolds is hot right now specially with Action Comedy and SLJ will only help increase its appeal towards black audience.

I don't believe a dead August will help that much. People will just stay home/ do something else instead of seeing this.

The film look so unoriginal, and after failure of LIFE, I don't expect Ryan Reynolds to work a film alone on his stardom.

But Reynolds is not alone in this one and this not being sold solely on his name.

Yeah, Samuel L Jackson and Gary oldman both are great addition, but Tbh they are way past their prime and I'm not sure how much they can benefit it.
On positive side, Salma hayek is still so beautiful

Its the combination, you are talking about their personal draw which I wasn't. Its not a sure fire hit combination but it has a funny trailer in an action comedy premise which helps.

Sam Jackson has been pretty hit and miss lately and Reynolds still hasn't proven himself as a draw outside of Deadpool, but if any movie was going to bank on his success from that movie it should be this one. If The Dark Tower moves I might be tempted to join this club, but for now I'm not upping my expectations that much.

It does remind me of past Samuel L. Jackson flops. Anyone remember Formula 51? Or the memorably titled The Man?

BUT I also see the value of having post-Deadpool Reynolds in a sarcastic, R-rated action comedy. And it reminds me of hits, too: The Other Guys, Red, Kingsman... Two of those also featuring Jackson.

So I don't know. Split the difference, I guess.

I don't know if it'll go that high, but I wouldn't be surprised if this did Lucy Numbers. Looks like a blast. It will be a hit.

But this looks a little better than that and while that had bigger star power than this it was also an actioner, this is an R-rated action-comedy whose star just opened a similar R-rated action comedy to $150m+
