If it is selling out, then holdovers also benefit. It's win-win. But yeah, not sure. I guess kids could sneak down the front or sit on steps, but I don't think this would be tolerated in US cinemas. Maybe an American can confirm...

The rest, such as Dunkirk needing to pass $200m for MadGez to lose pts and for me to gain pts ... is very unlikely to happen. But I definitely see Guardians 2 missing $390m (at least it has a much greater than 10% chance), so if that were to happen:

2. MadGez - 37pts
3. Algren - 36pts

Cars 3 failing to hit $156m and Homecoming hitting $340m are UNLIKELY, so no changes there. Damn it. ;)

But one additional movie will pass $100m (Annabelle: Creation, meaning that Price will lost 2pts and MadGez will gain 2pts:


1. MadGez - 39pts
2. Algren - 36pts
3. Price - 36pts

My projection: MadGez wins.


Now I am thinking all of this could happen as I've outlined above apart from Emoji making $85m, meaning that MadGez and Price would both have 39pts. I'm out of it, settling for Bronze. But the battle of MadGez and Price will be what makes this interesting, and it could go on for a while because of Guardians 2.

Emoji will reach $85 unless it really crumbles from now on.

Turbo was at $79m after 45 days and it still made $4m more.
Emoji is at $82.5m, and it's doing better dailies.
And both were released late July, so there is no month advantage for any of them.

Well, Sony are not Fox. Turbo stayed around for 21 weeks. Sony animated films do not get such luxury. Open Season only managed 10 weeks. The Angry Birds Movie eked it out to 17 weeks and was pulled. Sausage Party mustered 16 weeks before it was pulled. Granted, Emoji only needs $2.5m, but it just crumbled 57% after Labour Day, whereas Turbo fell 43%. It's not looking as rosy for Emoji. Sony don't keep their films around forever.

Annabelle: Creation passed $100m yesterday (Tuesday), which means...

-Annabelle Creation grosses roughly more than $99 million, which would put it at +17% over Annabelle, making question #5 (closest grossing sequel) swing back to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
ALGREN GAINS 1 PT. :cheer:

-1 additional movie passes $100 million (Annabelle: Creation), making question #8's answer be 12 movies.
PRICE LOSES 2 PTS. MADGEZ and EXDEE13 GAIN 2 PTS :cheer:

And The Emoji Movie will probably make $85m. Its theater count was halved this coming weekend, but it's only $850k away and it made $1m last weekend.

Chart should be updated when it hits $85m.

Guardians officially closed the other day too - $389.813 million, which makes MadGez lose 3 points.

Dunkirk doesn't seem to be gearing up to go to $200 million, which means this entire contest will be down to whether or not The Emoji Movie passes $85 million. Once that is 100% clear, I will post results. :)
