Ya, looks like both could potentially hit the mark.

Kingsman is probably gonna hit 100m by Tuesday...

Yep both of these movies should be sneak past $100m specially MotoE which is having great weekdays and should run ahead of DH2 over weekends now as well. MotoE needs a multiplier of 3 from here on though DH2 needs a little higher 3.1 from here both of which shouldn't be too big of an ask with holidays coming soon.

Even if MotoE and DH2 see a big drop with SW7 they will be close enough by that time for them to reach $100m

Yeah, which means they have a great chance, but it is no guarantee.

But the holidays will be so great for them and next weekend they will hold really well. 1.5m weekend on the 22nd to 24th can mean 10m more easily. Last Jedi won’t hit them that hard as there will be spillover from sellouts. You can imagine some worst case scenario, but everything needs to go wrong and I don’t see how they don’t make it. To piss Algren off i’ll call it guaranteed since there might be a 99.99% chance.

Yes like The Last Jedi is also mathematically possible to not reach $100m though anyways I agree right now they are too far to be considered locks. I wasn't talking about the category pe#1 placed them into just that he said they might get killed but that seems highly unlikely.

It is not about mathematics. Every film is mathematically possible to not reach $100m and therefore also mathematically possible to reach it. That helps nobody. It is about likelihood. The Last Jedi is an absolute lock on par with tomorrow being Monday.

Orient Express and Daddy's Home 2 are in a different boat. They've already been out for a few weeks and while it may be likely, they are not absolute certainties. They just have a great chance to make it. I'd say 70% or more.

Movies are certain to make what they will. My ticket wouldn't make much of a difference and I'm not going to affect the gross that much any other way. It appears likely or not based on the information and analysis the prediction is based on. If you have new or better information it can change a prediction and mostly likely make it more accurate.

DH2 and Murder will probably be close to 90m by the end of next weekend but I still don't feel comfortable putting them as lock *shrug* if both make it we just need 1 more film to have more 100m grossers than last year.

Don't see any Oscar hopeful like La La Land passing 100m but it'd be a nice surprise.

So we are looking very good to beat 2016's 30 x 100m grossers.

We look to have 32 with the 'locks' and 'great chance' making it (I do think both DH2 and Orient will make it).

I'd also add Ferdinand + one or two others that break out or are January awards hits (either The Post, I Tonya, Greatest Showman).

So 33-35 would be pretty good. Yet the year will probably have the lowest ticket sales since 1992.

Expected. These drops happened before TFA too. Too close now.

Yep DH2 and MotoE are locked up now. DH2 in particular has Christmas behind it. MotoE should be hit less by SW8 IMO.

MOTOE and DH2 both have incredible legs. Both will cross 100m pretty easily. My guess is 110m for MOTOE and 105m for DH2.

I think with Christmas DH2 will eventually take over MotoE in total.

(It looks good, kids are off school, it's based on a top 100 children's book, Disney won the best animated short Oscar for it's version, and only one Blue Sky movie has done less than $100m.)
