I want to meet the person in 2016-2017 who would pay to watch Baywatch as a serious action blockbuster. Bourne for lifeguards. Sounds good.

This is not out grossing Pirates. Pirates will do 50 million OW if everything went wrong. Pirates 4 did 90 million without two of the three leads and coming off the horribly received At Worlds End. The teaser smartly avoidied Jack Sparrow so much it almost seems like he is not in it, so there won't be much Depp fatigue. People have enjoyed the Pirates films, it's not like Alice where no one liked the first.

While I agree that Pirates will out open Baywatch, Pirates 4 did $90 million when Johnny Depp wasn't considered box office poison and a reprehensible human being. You're also basing your argument like the teaser trailer will be the only trailer Disney releases or the only trailer people will see/remember. There's at least going to be one more trailer (probably two) and I'm going to take a guess and say that Sparrow is going to be featured a little more prominently in them.

I think it's all about the level of comedy. The trailer for this film makes it look like a comedy first, and an actioner last. It seems to come from the Neighbors and Dirty Grandpa film-making school, when it probably should come from the 21 Jump Street school.

The action looks pretty ridiculous, much in the 21 range, so I'm still not seeing your argument. Plus we haven't seen a red band yet, so far, looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

Also Algren, 25 years didn't Stop Charlie Angels, Scooby Doo, Adams Family, Brady Bunch, Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzards from opening between 30-65 million adjusted.

Are you saying that the Jump Streets weren't comedies first? I don't know what movies you think you saw, because they were definitely comedies first as even the action bits were comical.

No. 21 Jump Street and its sequel are definitely comedies. I just mean they have two things that Baywatch doesn't have; jokes that work, and purposeful action.

Well that's a hard pill to swallow. The general reaction is it is a comedy, and most like it and recognize with it. You are just in a bad area. It's playing well here. But I will agree that this is not getting 21 jump street reactions. But we need a red band trailer to really see. If that happens, it does have 60/180 potential.

Has anyone seen the latest character posters? They're awful. Here's a sample:

Are you based out of LA and know people who are privy to industry scuttlebutt?

Have you read others than Sneider and Wells saying the same thing?

Not positive anymore but still see it doing well. Didn't find the latest trailer to be all that great. The first was way better.

So Critics Choice has an average rating of movies in both numeric and star form.

Baywatch has a 75/100 numeric and 3/4 star rating. That's usually a good sign for a comedy.

It's probably gonna kill Algren in the Tomato Picker contest. :P

It has a brand name but it looks AWFUL. The series was really big back in its glory days and Rock has generally been on fire when re-igniting old franchises. I guess I'll join.
