 Ant-Man 2 is for real Goes to show just how great the legs were, though the weak late summer slate sure helped a lot. Comes out in July 2018. My greatest hope in the world is that they somehow reconnect with Edgar.
I'll give it ~75/200m for now. Could go up if Rudd gets some great scenes in the Civil and Infinity Wars.

Re: Ant-Man 2 is for real It makes sense, I guess. I mean, it made $410m worldwide, and cost $130m. And it opens in China on 16th October, so it's guaranteed at least $450m, which is enough in the black to make a sequel, and the fact that Marvel need all the solo movies, makes the decision easy.
By 2018, the Marvel brand will be much weaker.
Opening: $35m
Total: $110m

Ant-Man and the Wasp predictions It opens July 6, 2018.
Four MCU sequels increased over their predecessors, two decreased (Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron).
I wasn't a big fan of Ant-Man, but the film had the third-best multiplier of all MCU films, only behind Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man. I think the character struck a chord and his scene in Civil War alone probably boosted popularity big time.
Opening weekend - $79 million
Total gross - $220 million

Interestingly this will be out after Infinity War so there may be added interest pending how that film is received and where it leaves the MCU by the end of it.

Re: Ant-Man and the Wasp predictions I thought that was a really fun trailer, actually - much more memorable than anything in the marketing for the first Ant-Man. I've been unsure how to predict this, especially because it comes pretty shortly after an insane run of mega-blockbusters that could end up exhausting the market - we could end up having five $120+ million openers in the span of eight weeks. But this will probably be the last real four-quadrant movie of the summer, which we've seen the last two summers through Spider-Man and Suicide Squad can be a real benefit to legs.
Opening: $87.7 million
Total: $251.7 million (2.87)
