Re: The Lion King (live-action) over 750m domestic club
B&B's 2017/1991 domestic multiplier was 3,45. Even accounting for slightly less inflation and the non-human characters putting off some people, a very conservative 2,5 2019/1994 multiplier puts this at nearly $800 million.

Yes there is no way this is making less than the BATB's domestic gross. Interest is through the roof.

TLK belongs to the category of movies with a chance to dethrone SW: The Force Awakens and even Avatar worldwide... The only handicap I see is the release date (although I'm convinced that influences of release dates are highly overrated). --> I will certainly join the club...

Re: The Lion King (live-action) over 750m domestic club
The teaser was the 2nd most viewed ever. The AA demographic will show up for this just like BP. That's a big plus. It is one of the most beloved Disney films ever. It reaches all four quads. The current opponents in July and August are weak besides that FnF spinoff. Finally, BP made 700, Infinity War 678, there is zero doubt this beats both of those films.
Also here's a list of records this film is going after.
Guaranteed to Fall
July Harry Potter / Deathly Hallows (P2) $169,189,427 Summer Jurassic World $208,806,270 RATED PG Incredibles 2 $182,687,905

That trailer didn't do anything for me. I wanted to see more stuff. It's still a Day One though.

I'm thinking if Aladdin is badly received it will hurt this. People won't want to be burned twice.
I really do think people are becoming wary of remakes and some will not see this out of spite. But the dumb general audiences will probably eat it up.

What's dumb about a CGI revision of TLK. TJB was amazing and I never watched the original animated film as I'm sure there's a slew of folks who haven't even watched the original LK. It's the best of both world's imo. The older audience gets a new look to the film and fresh eyes get introduced to both versions.

Nothing is even being brought into “live action”. It’s just CG. Even Beauty and the Beast looked drastically different in live action, even if the story was pretty much the same. And that films reputation isn’t great nowadays. It benefitted from coming first. The Lion King will make tons of money, but I’m thinking around BATB Numbers. Not Avengers Numbers.

Yes - I'm not buying the $700m+ predictions. More like $550-$600m which would still be HUGE.

The new trailer wasn't much, but judging by the reactions I saw last night it seems like it was still really effective. I definitely still see this doing massive numbers.
