With BP being one of the big highlights of CW next to Spider-Man there is already some immense hype among mainstream audiences.With the casting announcement of Michael B. Jordan #BlackPantherSoLIT is now trending on twitter. I feel like if this was coming out next year it would easily open to $100M+, but with great trailers/reviews this could still be HUGE in it's current slot. I don't see it opening bigger than DP but $90m-$100m 4-day might be possible. |

I read that Lupita Nyong'o is also in talks to be in this. Would having an Oscar winner attached to the project help it? |

Not really. Lupita is not a big name for herself. Oscar winner or not it won't bring eyes to the cinema by herself. But Black Panther has been introduced pretty good in CA3, so I think this will do pretty good. |

I get that it's got a great cast, and people loved BP in Civil War... but I think the max it could do is $90/275. I'd probably lean more towards $75/230. |

After seeing Civil War, I really liked the character but I don't think it will have mass (white) appeal. It will be your Shaft of the action genre, your Big Momma's House of the comedy genre, your Blacula of the horror genre. Its appeal will be inflated because of Marvel (they will probably add a few white Avengers like Hawkeye and Vision) but on the whole it will have a very black theme and I think that will not interest many people who, quite rightly, only show up for the main ones like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. Sticking with my $50m/$115m prediction unless I hear that Iron Man or Cap will be on the poster. |

Cap 3 did a terrific job with introducing this character and building a reason to see his own movie. The mid credits scene really made me want to see it too. The actor who plays him is fantastic. I'm thinking original Thor type numbers, adjusted for release date. 83 OW 185M total |

That trailer is pure HYPE. After the mainstream success of SOC and GO I don't see how this doesn't end up being HUGE. This has the Marvel/Disney marketing machine behind it and it comes out in the perfect month. I'm upping my prediction to 130 (4-Day)/330 total |
