The kids love Spider-man. This comes out after Spidey stole the show in Civil War plus it adds Iron Man plus it's part of the MCU - it can't miss!

I keep forgetting this is opening around Independence Day weekend, because Sony/Marvel have it opening Friday. I'd be very surprised if they didn't atleast move it up to Wednesday and when they do it's going to crush $150M.

Adding two days to its opening? Well, duh.

I did not realize this had Iron Man in it. That's cheating! This will happen now.

IN.

Iron Man 2 had Iron Man in it and it opened to much less. As did Iron Man.

Yeah, comparing Pre and Post Avengers Iron Man is a smart argument. HIs last 4 appearances have done 206, 174, 191, and 179, and to be clear you can argue the bullshit avengers argument all you want. IM3 did it, and let's be honest, he is without a doubt the primary character in almost all of these movies. The MCU is still very much mostly following the arc of Tony Stark. That's why he was added to CA3, it went from a possible 110 million opener to a top 5 OW film.

There would be no reason to release this the day after 4th of July (holiday would have no effect at this point, that's why this certain 4th of July weekend usually sucks.) Friday is the smart move.

I wondered how anyone could be excited for a story we've seen a million times, but then realized it was KJ, where superheroes are plastered over all walls, floors and ceilings and coated with layers of dried cum.

Carry on.

I'll scrape off my dried cum if you clean up your hate ejaculate first.

I still feel like this club can happen, especially since this is probably the only live-action blockbuster this summer to bring the under 25 crowd out in force.

I completely forgot about my last post in this thread, though. lol

It does look good. Thank God good Spider-Man movies are being made now. I shudder to remember Tobey Maguire in the role.

Spidey's back but AMS soured too many for this kind of immediate rebound. I'm out.

Those horrible The Amazing Spider-Man movies will probably hurt this one a little. If they were coming off of the great Raimi movies the sky would be the limit.

Well SM1/2 were arguably great, SM3 was not. So ASM1 had to go off that. And it was really good. And then they faltered again with ASM2.

So Spider-Man has dealt with this before.

I don't think Guardians is the best comparison here plus Marvel has also done well with July spots, it has the necessary buzz, plus it will have the support of younger audience which every MCU movie doesn't have. I think $151m will happen.

Still not hitting $151m OW.

I'm still OUT, but the trailers are getting better and I do have feeling this will play really well with younger audiences the same way SS did last year. I can see a $125-$135M opening.

This won't open above SM3.

115-125 sounds about right.

The tv ads are showing way too much of the movie. Has anybody ever used the Stan Lee cameo to sell the movie? To me that says the movie isn't tracking as high as Marvel/Sony would like. There's still plenty of time to turn it around though. A very weak June will help, though the weekend before Spider-Man is the only one with big potential.

I'll gonna go $110m / $270m

There have just been too many Spider-Man appearances for interest to be at $151m level. Five films plus an appearance in Civil War. The character is approaching saturation.
