Re: What should WB do with its JUNGLE BOOK?
Warner Bros. has recruited Alfonso Cuarón to consult on/assist with/burnish this movie.

ERC:
THE JUNGLE BOOK 2 is official with Jon Favreau returning to the director's chair and writer Justin Marks, as well.
poor Andy Serkis.

Re: What should WB do with its JUNGLE BOOK?
So, that's made it easy for WB to market their Jungle Book. Just market it as if it's the sequel to Disney's. Job done. Thanks Disney!

But there is already going to be a sequel.

lilmac wrote: But there is already going to be a sequel. Right, but I think we're assuming the WB version releases first. Thus, it could easily be marketed as a sequel of sorts.

Re: What should WB do with its JUNGLE BOOK?
I was mostly kidding when I mentioned this Kenspy wrote: Disney should announce their Jungle Book sequel will be released August 2018 But it's looking like an August 3, 2018 release date, 11 weeks prior to Jungle Book Origins. Savage.

Disney is just toying with WB at this point.

Re: What should WB do with its JUNGLE BOOK?
The trailer looks eh. The special effects look much chintzier than those in the Disney one. And it looks basically to cover the same bases as the 2016 one, even if it's "darker".
It's early, but I smell a bomb. Sub 25m opening weekend incoming.

Serkis' version seems confused whom to target. Its not going to do well.

This was always going to tank. Hitting $50m domestic would be an achievement.

Yeah. I hope Warner Bros. loses a lot of money on this one.

Re: What should WB do with its JUNGLE BOOK?
Because I’m a fan of his works. Isn’t this his first go at directing?

They should have pulled a Cloverfield Paradox and just premiered it on HBO.

Umm... Because he seems like a great "film" guy. He was Gollum! King Kong! Caesar! Snoke! He puts in a ton of work on motion capture, and finally seems to be getting his due.

Rev wrote: Because I’m a fan of his works. Isn’t this his first go at directing? I knew you were thinking that BUT Breathe (another underrated and forgotten movie) was his first directional effort though as lesterg mentioned this was his first take at direction and I'll consider this as second since Breathe was released first and used that chip while marketing. I am fan of his acting work (or more of his characters) as well but it seems like too early to do a passion project in his directing career.

Yes his characters are great. Even Ulysses Klaue was good in Black Panther but this movie has a very little to do with motion capture. Anyways I got the answer from Rev and as I was suspecting he thought its his first directing gig and I feel its too early to be doing passion projects in his directing career.

Aren't almost all first directing jobs "passion projects"?
