Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Specially for a superhero movie it looks similar. Though the posters seem to have more colors than the movie itself which is nice

I don't think that guarantees the breakout. The Jan-Mar period was too strong and I think the summer "slump" will continue till mid-June when trashy movies will suddenly start making movies. I think the ceiling for WW is MoS OW numbers at this point and with that it should cross $300m but still be below BvS just like SS did in the end.

It certainly could. There is just trash in the theater right now. It's followed by The Mummy, Cars 3, and Transformers. Hardly a tough road for it.

I just don't think it will. Even if there is trash after WW, summer is a harsh time for legs specially once the initial weeks are over and unless you have Pixar-classics level WoM its difficult to build late legs. There is also theatre drops that would come with blockbusters releasing every week and movies targeting the similar demo (The Mummy, Transformers).

Guardians is about to get a 2.6~ multi or so, from early May! WW will have June weekdays, which are significantly better. San Andreas had a 2.9 multi. Maleficent had a 3.5 multi. DoFP had a 2.6 multi.

If WW got a 2.5 multi, which should be the minimum it gets, it needs a $132 mil OW. Not impossible in the least.

When does the review embargo for this end? If the studios were smart they'd take full advantage of the critic thrashing Pirates and Baywatch are receiving and lift that embargo by the end of this week. If the movie is as good as those early tweets suggest than they definitely need to prove it by letting the early world get out so that the hype can build.

I bet they'll lift the review embargo this weekend similar to what they did to Kong.

The review embargo ends on May 31st at 9am (PST or EST, I'm uncertain) though it is possible WB moves that up if reviews will actually be very positive.

Wow so just a day before previews start? Not that I think it's too concerning, but they definitely need to move it up. That's not nearly enough time to really get the buzz going.

There is really no reason to not move it up to this Friday morning.

And that's where my problem is. Its not going to open big enough like a $132m OW IMO. I think it can match MoS which had more hype than this but this will have more casual audience being the first female superhero movie and defy tracking which still remains really bad. Recent trend from tracking standpoint has been that the movies breaking out start showing signs and as of now from tracking perspective this isn't going that route. I am still under $100m OW for this but I think it can do MoS numbers.
