I would have preferred Ansel but somehow he didn't make the short list. This guy is okay though. I thought he was fine in the witches movie.

Alden was a revelation in Hail Caesar! Great choice. I'm more interested in this now.

He was also pretty inspired & charismatic in tween trash / guilty pleasure Beautiful Creatures.

Alden is a decent actor with potential though I would never have imagined him as Han Solo...let's see how he does.

This is the only real misstep for Disney. Do any scoundrel bounty hunter movie, have solo as a cameo. I mean I can't see the point. Ford was 33 looking young already. The story is limited to extreme young years

I really liked this guy in Hail, Caesar!, but he looks nothing like a young Harrison Ford which is what I was worried about. I can get use to him though.

Considering they already have months of footage will the film credit Lord, Miller and the new director?

When is the last time this happened in the middle of shooting a major tent pole? Given their success, idk what to make of them leaving.

Wow. That's huge. Especially at this stage of filming.

I can see this definitely moving to December leaving a crater size hole in May (again).

If this does move Deadpool 2 should just move into the Memorial Day slot. I think it's strong enough to overcome the stink the slot has had for awhile.

I'm sure there's another recent example, but I can only think of Richard Donner, and he didn't quit.

Oh. Nope, it's pretty much the same as Richard Donner, though Donner at least got one classic out of all the footage he shot.

More reshoots for a Star Wars spinoff coming up!

I am trying to remember a remotely similar situation. Even on a smaller-scale film. The only one in my mind right now is Michael Apted finishing Chasing Mavericks (lol) after the late Curtis Hanson fell ill mid-shoot. The usual scenario, of course, is another person is quietly brought on for uncredited retooling; I know Disney handsomely paid Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, The Bourne Legacy) to do this for Rogue One.

I guess the message is: Kathleen Kennedy is the auteur here, and no director is going to be allowed to inject much personality or idiosyncrasy. If only Disney could clone those perfectly anonymous Russo brothers and have them direct every franchise movie.

Apparently the script was "too funny" I believe and not exactly the tone that Kathleen and co. were looking for.

They better make The Flash

However, are they still directing the animated Spider Man movie?
