I'd give both openers a better multiplier. xXx2 with around 2.2-2.3, and Hitchhiker with around 2.5-2.6.

With the way xXx 2 will lose theaters in the third weekend, I can't see it having as good a multiplier as a movie like Underworld. There isn't much in the way of holidays or weekdays. Yeah, Memorial Day is coming, but it will mostly be out of theaters by then.

That's true, but I don't believe that it's going to get that 67% second weekend drop you predicted earlier. It obviously wasn't THAT frontloaded if it increased that much on Saturday. It should drop around 58-62% because of it's genre, though.

With the 67% drop I was expecting a multiplier of 1.9. I think it will drop about 64%.

I'd actually agree with the 6 million weekend two that Box Office Warrior has. The multiplier was excellent and WOM actually seems pretty damn solid, so I think it'll fall about 55%. And as for theaters, well really nothing May 13th will get that huge a theater count, and there's no movie to attract under 17 guys until Star Wars, so I think it'll have a bad multiplier of 2.4 rather then an unbelievably bad one of 1.9. It'll probably just barely squeak over 30 million.

With all R-rated openers, I don't see XXX2 having an over 60% drop. As Weekend Warrior mentioned, people could be buying its tickets to sneak in Kingdom of Heaven or House of Wax. 55% drop sounds right.

Great article DP07 for the most part I agree with your comments, though I expect Hitchhiker's to have a much more solid multiplier of 2.5 for over $50 million total.
Of course my bad word of mouth isn't going to help it.

Mine too, it was my biggest dissapointment ever. Seriously. In no way lived up to the books IMO. However, I can say that I wrote the article before seeing the movie.
