This is when TLJ is still in full force in terms of marketing. Looking pretty good

WB's epic failure with DC is just reaffirming others love of Marvel films. No doubt its cause for the sudden resurgence of interest

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Yeah. Marvel have worked their guts out for ten years with hit after hit after hit, so they deserve whatever Infinity War can make. They will reap the rewards of a grand plan made by true comic-book fans. DC, on the other hand, are the opposite. No plan whatsoever. Just multiple quarter-of-a-billion dollar knee-jerk movies in the hope of recreating the Nolan magic, which they obviously didn't get was also a precisely planned and well-executed film franchise with vision, not some haphazardly-made string of films that bends over backwards to be liked.

Thanos will likely win in the movie so I think it will take away the main issue of lame villians.

He has to win because he is in Part 2. But I think it will be more of a stalemate/Thanos escaping/cliffhanger where Thanos has all of the stones ... and then Part 2 is just all-out war.

It will be interesting because this could potentially be like HP: DH1 and DH2 BUT its not marketing DH1 as being warm-up to DH2.

Well, it did, but then it changed it all. Some will remember, but sure the masses will have no idea.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
I understand that fans and heavy BO followers will know about it but then again last 10 years we have been watching MCU episodes for this "Season" finale of two parts so maybe it will work.

unlike Twilight, HP and Hunger Games
This seems worthy of having a two-part

finale though

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
All the MCU films in 2017 out-grossed the DCU films. Same will happen in 2018, though luckily for DC (to save some embarrassment), they only have one being released!

Weren't there more MCU films in general this year alone?

I guess it was 3 for 3 if you also include Lego Batman and don't include Logan. But while Marvel's total gross might have been higher, DC had the highest grossing film in Wonder Woman.

Darth Indiana Bond wrote: Weren't there more MCU films in general this year alone? That's not what I meant. I mean that all three MCU films grossed more than all the DC films, separately. Like, in a list, all the MCU films are ranked higher based on gross. And of course I'm talking about the only gross that matters...worldwide. The lowest-grossing MCU film made more than the highest-grossing DCU film. Quite pitiful for DC and WB. And no stuffp, LEGO Batman is not part of the DCU, neither is Logan part of the MCU, so they don't count. MCU had three movies while DCU had two. MCU had the highest-grossing film; Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
No matter what way you twist the numbers, Wonder Woman is the biggest superhero success story of the year. Historically, newly introduced Superheroes do not perform well overseas. Hell, Justice League is about to outgrows Wonder Woman in terms of purely overseas sales

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Twisting the numbers is exactly what you're doing when you ignore 99% of the world and just focus on the US gross. Wonder Woman hit it big in the US, but everywhere else it did average numbers. Highlighted by its forthcoming #9 rank on the 2017 worldwide chart.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
Studios make more from American theaters than international theaters though. Its like the 18-49 demo in TV ratings. Sure, technically NCIS is the top show, but The Walking Dead dominates it in that demo, and is a more valuable property to advertisers because of it.
WW is the Walking Dead in this scenario. And Warcraft 2 would be on the 2018 schedule if it wasn't true.

Re: The Avengers: Infinity War predictions
The success is not always measured in what film grossed the most, but what it did he expectations.
