Tracking and other barometers are really leading us not only to TFA territory but to major record breaking numbers. I'm talking 275m+ OW

I think tracking is going crazy like they did with AoU and CW but $275m+ would mean it will break $250m at the least.

I think it's important that when we take TFA into consideration as far as it's pre-sales go they were also very spread out. That is the main difference IMO between a MEGA-OPENER in December vs. a MEGA-OPENER in April or May. Infinity War shouldn't need pre-sales to be on par with TFA in order to top it as long as the hype is there which it is. I mean RO is the number 3 best ticket seller of all-time yet both CW and BP out opened it by quite a bit.

The difference is the rabid SW fans who want to buy their tickets upfront. Marvel movies attract more families which means more walk-ins.

My projection is $252m and climbing.

Hype is huge here but being serious....Dulltron and Civil Wars were both absurdly over predicted too.

Id if the hype is high enough to do near $100m more than Civil War did opening weekend.

Yeah but BP also jumped ahead of tracking and this has a bigger hype than that. Its also not CW type of scenario here as this is the main Avengers series in which more people are invested. Other than BP none of the solo movies have crossed AoU ($50m+ lower) much less Avengers.

I know pre-sales are apparently amazing, but I'm having trouble seeing this challenging TFA, a film which was selling shows out at 5 a.m. 48 hours after tickets went on sale. In L.A., I can still get a good 7 p.m. Thursday/Friday seat for INFINITY WAR.

I think the pre-sales numbers will overall be lesser than TFA not only for the previews but overall weekend. This franchise attracts more walk-ins than the first SW movie after more than a decade.

Infinity War is still smashing pre-sales records left and right. It has now destroyed Black Panther and every other Marvel movie combined as well as unsurprisingly becoming Fandango's all-time best April pre-seller topping Furious 7. This might not be on the same level of TFA, but it's still really damn impressive IMO.

They should start comparing these pre-sales numbers for IW to TFA. It was surely going to surpass all superhero movies by a good margin.

Yeah, but combined? That's not something you should undervalue. That's a huge statistic.

It is definitely HUGE for sure. But somehow I remember CA:CW did something similar and even BvS.

By the nature of that statistic/record, it will never stop being impressive. It's accumulative.

I am not saying its not impressive but if the internet is already seeing signs of breaking OW record then Fandago should start comparing IW with TFA soon.

According to someone on BOT who usually posts about the advance sales at their theater IW has already surpassed both of the Thursday sales of CW and BvS with two weeks to go, but is still behind TLJ 5 weeks out. Now they still believe IW will beat TLJ's $220M opening, but that just shows you how ridiculous Star Wars is when it comes to pre-sales. I think having tickets go on sale two months in advance, plus the rabid fan base and the holiday effect has pretty much made those movies close to unbeatable in terms of pre-sales and I don't see IW really changing that no matter how big it opens.

Yeah this is stat that I was looking for doesn't matter its behind but its a confirmation that its going to open REALLY huge. I doesn't need to beat SW movies but to be right behind them is already an edge. I think SW7 was reported at $75m in presales if I remember correctly and it still has a whole big week to go.

I don't think the preview number will be high enough to get the OW record. And I think the NFL Draft will effect it juuuuuuuuuuuust enough to dent it and it will miss the mark.

But I won't be surprised by a better than expected IM.

2nd largest OW seems most likely.
