IM SO CRAZYYYYY

Ahem. Go Interpreter. Should do what ... 18?

Excellent for The Interpreter, and pretty on par with my prediction. Should have gone a bit higher for A lot like Love. My prediction for Kung Fu Hustle (7.3 million) is pretty close. Glad I didn't go higher for it.

Great for "The interpreter"... Count me surprised.

And either "King´s ransom" has a great multiplier or we have a new derby killer!

Being an adult oriented film that should do well on saturday, Interpreter should be able to pull over 20 with a rise today. I'm surprised with a lot like love. Ashton seemed like he had more drawing power than that to me, even though I don't personally like him in movies.

That's excellent for The Interpreter. It'll pull around $22-23M this weekend.

A Lot Like Love's number is just about what I expected. It'll do about $9M this weekend.

Kung Fu Hustle's number is a lot lower than I expected, but still decent.

King's Ransom... yuck. Even my $3M prediction might be too high.

Oh, and The Amityville Horror is only down 51% from last weekend. Amazing.

With a great hold like that, expect around $13.5M for the weekend. That's a 42% weekend drop.

Wonderful for The Interpreter, i thought its strong opening in the UK was a good sign for a low 20's opening.

Great hold for Amityville too.

i gave Kings Ransom a very small benefit of the doubt with $5.8m but it seems that even that was horribly high
The Interpreter on target to fufill my predictions; i knew this one could do exceptionally; expect generally good holds [30-45% drops]
A Lot Like Love will probobly fall around $500k short of my prediction, which was originally $8.9m but upped to $9.5m
Kung Fu hustle is in for a frame a little lower than what i had predicted

Excellent hold for Amityville.

THE INTERPRETER did very good.

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR had a really solid hold for the kind of movie it is and should drop under 50% this weekend.

A LOT LIKE LOVE should do a little over 8 Million.

KUNG FU HUSTLE should do just under 7 Million.

KING'S RANSOM might do 2.7 Million.

Here's what I was predicting for the new movies:

INTERPRETER

Friday - 5 Million
Saturday - 6.4 Million
Sunday - 4 Million

Total - 15.4 Million

A LOT LIKE LOVE

Friday - 3.1 Million
Saturday - 3.4 Million
Sunday - 1.9 Million

Total - 8.4 Million

KUNG-FU HUSTLE

Friday - 2 Million
Saturday - 2.4 Million
Sunday - 1.6 Million

Total - 6 Million

KING'S RANSOM

Friday - 2 Million
Saturday - 2.5 Million
Sunday - 1.5 Million

Total - 6 Million

I did good with my predictions for LOVE and HUSTLE anyway.

Great opening for The Interpreter. Good hold for Amityville Horror, but an awful opening for King's Ransom.

More than anticipated for Interpreter and YAY! for Amityville, which will be having a weekend drop less than 50%! \:D/

BKB will be happy.

excellent for the interpreter and amityville

I think maybe we should have picked up that Amityville would hold relatively well - i mean theres no real new competition for the audience that it has this weekend

When si the last time a horror film dropped less than 50% in its second week? AH has a great chance to do that.

You can watch only so much kung fu/wire fu. It seems like every single Hong Kong movie that gets a wide release here is about it.

I wish Kung Fu Hustle did better, it's a very, very fun film. Oh well, it's still a decent # I guess. Nice # for The Interpreter though, didn't expect it to make more than 16 million.

It'll almost certainly do that because last weekend it fell on saturday which won't happen this time. :)

From Box Office Guru:

Nicole Kidman scored a number one hit on Friday with the launch of the political thriller The Interpreter which grossed an estimated $7.5M in its first day of release. The Universal title, which also stars Sean Penn, could finish the weekend with about $21-24M becoming one of the top ten April openings ever.

The frame's other wide openers saw more modest results and were led by the Ashton Kutcher-Amanda Peet comedy A Lot Like Love which took in an estimated $3M in its debut. A three-day tally of $8-9M seems likely.

Sony Pictures Classics expanded its martial arts comedy Kung Fu Hustle nationwide and took in an estimated $2.3M on Friday. A weekend take of $6-7M should result. New Line saw a meager estimate of $700,000 for its Anthony Anderson comedy King's Ransom and should find its way to just under $2M for the frame.

Among holdovers, Friday-to-Friday declines were 49% for The Amityville Horror, 34% for Sahara, and 37% for Fever Pitch.
