Yup, I knew that...but that guy posted a different chart.

Here's a source to estimate G.I. Joe midnights at ~2.0m

http://www.hsx.com/forum/forum.php?id=3&pid=8636

Granted it's not an official nationwide estimate, so perhaps it doesn't belong on the list, but there it is unofficially anyway.

Captain America made an estimated $4 million in midnights.

Pretty decent.

According to very early estimates, Cowboys — starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford — should gross $14 million to $16 million on Friday. The pic earned a soft $700,000 in 1,200 midnight runs, a sign that younger fanboys didn’t turn out.

Not sure if this should be considered in midnight but 9pm previews and midnights of Fright Night resulted in $400K

Updated.

A list of the best non-sequel midnight numbers:

1. The Hunger Games - $19.75 million
2. Twilight - $7+ million
3. Spider-Man - $7 million
4. Watchmen - $4.55 million
5(t). Captain America: The First Avenger/LOTR: FOTR - $4 million
7. Avatar - $3.5 million
8. Green Lantern - $3.55 million
9. Thor - $3.3 million
10(t). The Last Airbender/Inception - $3 million

So, excellent number all around.

No doubt about it! Despite the midnight trends in recent years, to raise the bar that much higher for a non-sequel can't be called anything less superlative than *most impressive*.

That had special 8:00PM showings, from which it made $3.5 million.

Thor, Iron Man 2, and Captain America all did about 15% of their OD business from midnights.

15% of Iron Man's OD would yield about 5.28M from midnights. However, it also had Thursday sneaks so that may be on the high side, as some demand was already burned off. Unless of course, it had no midnight showings at all

Iron Man's Thursday numbers were first reported at $5.5m before lowered to the $3.5m Jon mentioned. So it's likely that $2m is the midnight gross.

Makes sense. So it would have done ~5 million had it been only a midnight opener, which follows suit with Thor/CA/IM2's midnight-to-Friday ratios.

Good rule of thumb, Marvel films make ~15% of their total Friday gross from midnights. Even Spider-Man films fit this pattern. X-Men too.

Wrath of the Titans - $1 million (1,490 locations)

The sequel to "Clash of the Titans" put up that "godly" number in 1,490 locations while facing fierce competition from "The Hunger Games."
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertain ... 1156.story

Not bad, but :funny:

For comparison, the original did $1.6 million from midnights.
