That's up from the previously expected 2,350. Close to Barbershop 2's theater count. |

This is definitely a good sign. It has a shot at $20 million if this theatre count holds. |

Nice...i rekon it will be around 2800-3000 for the weekend. However, i think this is being really over predicted. I think $14,000,000 (5 day) is in store. I really want it to do well though. |

Can't wait to see this potential gem! :-s I don't see this doing too well. But who knows, it's hard to gauge these 'types' of films. |

A high theater count means nothing for this movie. Look at Sky Captain's theater count. |

Agreed MG, but it also can't hurt. It is gonna have to draw that older teen and college crowd to really do well. |

For one thing, older folks won't be as keen to see Sin City as they were Sky Captain. Sin City is going to attract teens 18-24. Now how many teens really want to see a black and white movie? It will attract the oddball film lovers. |

MG Casey wrote: A high theater count means nothing for this movie. Look at Sky Captain's theater count. Of course not, it's the print counts that matter. Sky Captain only played on 2 screens at my theater, Sin City is on 4 screens. Anyway, for much of the holdovers, those are lower drops than expected. |

Sky Captain's problem was that it only had appeal to older audiences, but marketed itself towards teenagers. The end result was something that looked too weird and out of date for teens, and something that looked like a stupid action movie for adults. It had some of the worst marketing in a LOONG time. |

Exactly, too boring looking for kids, too childish for adults. Sin City knows what its market is. Sin City has much bigger hype then Sky Captain. |

Yeah, there's been a cast member on the talk show circuit literally every day for over three weeks now, thanks to the huge cast. The reviews are also great, and while the percentage is close to Sky Captains, the good reviews are huge raves, whereas Sky Captains they were more "good but not great" (7.7 vs. 6.9) |

I rekon SIN CITY will pull a $8,700K PTA for a $28,000,000 weekend. FEVER PITCH will be the highest opener the following weekend. |

I honestly think that SIN CITY will be huge. I might be the only one thinking that, but I'm going for a $30+ million weekend. BEAUTY SHOP will have about $15 million this weekend, and have very small drops because of good word of mouth, SIN CITY should also hold up quite nice. Next week ... SAHARA - 19 million FEVER PITCH - 14 million |
