Yeah, I could see them doing it, I just never felt this actually happening. Always see the big movies (no matter which one) having the best showtimes.

Well anyway, Wolf Warriors 2 was knocked off the top spot yesterday by Paradox's opening day. It now has $730m and made $8m yesterday.

Absolutely incredible run for sure, and the ceiling of the China box office is undoubtedly much higher even.

So it won't do $800m now still a gargantum run anyways and a comparatively great run.

It topped by the previous highest-grossing film in China by 38%, which at this level of gross is FUCKING INSANE. An increase of $200m, and it's not done yet.

Wolf Warriors 2 stayed in #2 yesterday with $9.2m. A higher Friday gross than any film in the US including all the openers, and WW2 has been out for 23 days. Cume is $742m.

Wolf Warriors 2 reclaimed the #1 spot on Saturday with boffo $13m. Cume now $754m in 24 days. It may get to $800m. It's all about showtimes now, I guess. with lots of films being released soon, I am not sure how long it can stay prominent.

Valerian will be #1 this weekend, but BD might upset.

On the other hand, Cars 3 is slightly tracking behind Dory but will finish less than 30m due to poorer WOM.

These data are based on this

Quote:
Val 1.7m
BD 1.27
C3 .52
Early projection. Could shift a bit. C3 could ramp up steeper at the end
Val 50-60m OD $25-30m OW
BD 40-50m OD $20-25m OW
C3 20-25m OD $15m OW

Assume total at 2- 2.2x OW unless WoM catches on

So Wolf Warriors 2 is now up to $793m after 29 days. Astonishing. Frank Grillo; box office star! ;)

Not only that, but he's also an underrated (but awesome) actor. Loved him in the Purge movies (Anarchy and Election Year)

Wolf Warriors 2 tops $800m, by the way. Looks like it might make it to $820m or so.

Valerian doesn't seem to be doing too bad.

Any numbers on Valerian, Baby Driver and especially Dunkirk's first weekend out?

Post subject:  Re: China Box Office

Dunkirk had a $30m opening weekend. Lame.

Valerian is up to $58m in 10 days. Also lame, but with that huge budget they will be happy with anything.

Baby Driver is nowhere to be seen. Will gross less than $17m in total. It dropped off the chart on its tenth day in release and the cume was just shy of $16m.

It is well poised for Spider-Man: Homecoming to break out, though with Wolf Warriors 2 STILL in second place (cume stands at $850m) who knows.

Cool, thanks for those stat updates.

Guess, they all affected it each other somewhat.

Thanks.

And wow, pretty disappointing numbers for all.

Think Spidey should do well this weekend, but whether it will really break-out also not sure.

The Hitman's Bodyguard comes out on 22nd September! Same day as Orlando Bloom-starrer, Unlocked.

Great.
Unlocked would have made next to nothing regardless.
