Re: China Box Office
@mark66 I'll get those translated for you this weekend.
The entire box office for New Year is insane. The shows were averaging 70% full throughout the day.

Re: China Box Office
Operation Red Sea's run is going to be great to track. It's getting the best reviews of all the new films and has consistently gained screens since opening day.

It is reportedly better reviewed than Wolf Warriors 2: well-choreographed war sequences and no stupid superheroic action. Based on a rescue mission by the Chinese military in Africa (like Wolf Warriors 2), it is one of those patriotic movies made to make the Chinese military/government look good and to rally the population. It has received a lot of state support as did WW2. But unlike WW2, it is produced and financed by a major studio based in Hong Kong.

Re: China Box Office
All the cinemas in my area are only showing the same five movies. So boring, but makes for the perfect canvas for huge grosses.

Well I didn't expect that! Thought Monster Hunt 2 would be the dominant movie over CNY.

Re: China Box Office
My local multiplex has already started selling tickets for Black Panther's first two days and its 00:05am screening on its opening day (which is 9th March). I don't think I've seen tickets on sale this early for a film before. Maybe once or twice. But this is rare. Tickets are on sale for next weekend's films ( Peter Rabbit), which is normal, and makes sense. But they are obviously expecting (or hoping for) something big with Black Panther. But so far ... 0 tickets sold.

Re: China Box Office
China Presale tickets are now out pacing SM: Homecoming
Homecomings final China earnings were $116,280,889, I think BP will definitely out gross that final total.
Thank you Algren, please keep doubting the power of "Bast"

Re: China Box Office
Operation Red Sea already passed Monster Hunt 2 in total and is charging hard on Detective Chinatown Vol 2 too.

Re: China Box Office
A lot of people are back to work today. The official day was last week but too many people were still on leave. Today is sort of (at least in my mind) the unnofficial day back for the majority. So the huge $30m+ days will probably stop happening from today. That being said, factory workers will still largely be off until next week.

Re: China Box Office
Did previous MCU movies have previews this early? Might be the reason the presales are higher than usual. Given the US over-performance I am sure Chinese audience will be keen on seeing BP.
