Just be mindful of potential spoilers if you ever plan to watch the anime or read the manga. Can't really go into this movie unless you've watched season one of the anime (only season so far) or have read the first six volumes of the manga, since it adapts the next arc in the story.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Monday is trending even higher now. I'm expecting up to ¥700 million ($6.5 million+) today on 500,000+ admissions. It appears as though its Monday will be on par with the biggest Saturday and/or Sunday numbers of any past film. If it does that on Monday, and would behave like a normal, but well-received film that is appealing more toward females than men, I'd say its daily breakdown would be something like... ¥700 million ($6.5 million) / 550,000 admissions - Monday (currently trending to this target) ¥500 million ($4.5 million) / 390,000 admissions - Tuesday ¥775 million ($7.5 million) / 650,000 admissions - Wednesday ¥475 million ($4.5 million) / 375,000 admissions - Thursday ¥600 million ($5.5 million) / 475,000 admissions - Friday Weekday total: ~¥3 billion (~$30 million) / ~2.5 million admissions First week (7-day total) around ¥7.5-8 billion ($70-75 million) / 6 million+ admissions. Still waiting on the Weekend Actuals. And then the second weekend would begin...

If the second weekend begins at that pace/Friday we can potentially see it be bigger than any other opening weekends lol.

Being over ¥10 billion by the end of the second weekend would be crazy.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Weekend Actuals:
Friday: ¥1.260 billion ($12.0 million) Saturday: ¥1.710 billion ($16.2 million) Sunday:¥1.650 billion ($15.7 million)
Opening Weekend: ¥3.360 billion ($31.9 million) 3-Day Total: ¥4,623,117,450 ($43.9 million) / 3,424.930
Weekend admissions haven't been revealed yet, just the 3-day.
Lower end of my range, but definitely can't be disappointed at this.
>The three single biggest days in history were achieved: Sat. > Sun. > Fri. >51% higher than the previous opening weekend record. >104% higher than the previous 3-day opening weekend record. >And [insert biggest opening weekend of any month, genre, etc. here].
There's nothing opening weekend related that it didn't break, and by unfathomable margins.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
I guess the biggest question will be, if DEMON SLAYER's second weekend would still beat the previous opening weekend record...

Amazing obviously, but I'm a bit disappointed that it's missed some of the records by just an inch.

Or do you just mean its 3-day opening weekend NOT beating the two-week totals of every film ever? Only three films have bigger 9/10-day totals versus Demon Slayer's 3-day opening. Biggest Aggregated Weekend is still achieved, just Demon Slayer's opening weekend by itself wasn't enough.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
It didnt get the record as some of the countries which have opening weekend > $50M tho. Now its opening weekend is $44M. Using the poor multiplier 4.8x from Yokai Watch, we will have around $210M or 22B yen full run.

I know what you mean. Those were the two WTF?! possibilities that it fell short on.
I'm going to update the charts again here soon (and edit in the admissions when they're out), that way they don't run into the Monday posts tomorrow.

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
We were really spoiled by this opening so yes we expected more. I love these numbers but beating those other two marks might have been cherry on the top

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Well, biggest Monday ever, likely even with holidays included, is all but guaranteed now. The day is almost halfway over, and it's on track to beat the Saturday and/or Sunday numbers of the vast majority of every film. It's probably going to achieve a sell-rate for the day around 50% (currently at 44%, but it'll likely see gradually increases in the evening).

Re: Japan Box-Office: Demon Slayer Obliterating Record Books
Btw I just noticed this but it will benefit from November 1 discounts on its third weekend and from November 14 discounts on its fourth weekend. That should allow for even better holds. The stars are really aligned for this movie.
