Post Re: Japan Box-Office: December Release Schedule
Already booked a ticket to the special fan screeing this coming Saturday in my country. To be honest, it is expensive although the price includes a t shirt, poster,.. and some other things. (The movie will be officially released in 3 weeks later, so I can't wait).
Looking forward to seeing the movie. From the information I gathered, the ticket price for special fan screening in other southest asia countries also expensive.

Only the ticket price for special fan screening is expensive tho (because we can watch it 3-4 weeks before everyone else in the country + can get some giveaways) . When it is officially released, the price is normal.

It's because of Aniplex. They're notorious for their incredibly expensive home video releases (like, $150/$200+ for 12 episode half-season sets), and the same is true when they're the sole distributor of their theatrical releases, too, so I imagine they're really jacking them up outside of Japan. The ticket prices are very expensive for their films, not even accounting for the special fan screenings.

If they weren't able to collaborate with Toho for its release in Japan (allowing for a very wide release and standard ticket prices), it honestly may have performed much differently versus everything it's done up until now, on its way to becoming the #1 film of all-time.

That'd be a fantastic streak even for a US blockbuster.

Longer than TFA and Endgame, for instance.

 That's not true. 60% of movies would be lucky to see a single day above $1m in the market.

A Thursday being down just ~25% after a giveaway weekend, a bit of an inflated Monday from giveaway spillover, discount day on Tuesday, and Wednesday (Ladies' Day), is quite strong and a clear sign there's still plenty of demand.

$28b crossed only the second movie all time to reach that milestone. Will be really close for $29b by Sunday but it should easily reach that mark by Monday.

With its gross in Japan alone it will get to #1 anime movie Worldwide or maybe whatever it has made in the few Asian markets it has been released this far should be enough to get it there.

Yep, all national newspapers are advertising it today. Bookstores are about to get swamped. Most have either just opened or will in the next hour or two. Over 2.5 million copies are likely to be sold this weekend.

Potential Spoiler image (just don't really focus on the cover and you're good):

This store received at least 1,020 copies. And the vast majority, if not all, will be sold within hours today.

Seeing several posts saying their nearest convenience store (they're all over in Japan, and most sell manga) either sold out already or they got one of the last copies.

And apparently newspapers are selling out today. All the national newspapers, as mentioned above, are running running advertisements today and include various artwork depending on the newspaper.

So add the newspaper industry among those that Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) has saved this year. :P

Poor table! (Although it looks metal, LOL.)

And they're limiting them to ONE copy per person due to the demand, despite the 3.95 million first-print run. 60-70% (hell, maybe higher) are going to be sold over this weekend alone. As has been mentioned, an unprecedented second-print run is already scheduled in six days. But if you're a big fan, you've gotta try and get that first edition copy.

The series could sell an additional 4-5 million copies this week.
