November 2019 was gutted when Bond and Wonder Woman left so I can see why Doctor Sleep was moved there. Terminator and Charlie's Angels will be underachievers.

Some interesting stuff on the DC side with The Batman finally getting a release date (WB hoping for June reboot success as per Batman Begins).

DC Super Pets???

And Suicide Squad REBOOT??

Doctor Sleep is a terrible title. Sounds like a superhero movie. But I do expect it to be decent as it's directed by Mike Flanagan. I also hope it opens in limited release, or at least not wide, something around 600-1,000 theatres. Wouldn't make sense to open it wide with a film like this. Needs to feel exclusive in order to grow.

The King factor + it being a sequel to The Shining (?) will ensure it opens wide and do reasonably well.

I'm a Red Sox fan, trust me there is no such thing as a King factor. It was as huge as The Dark Tower was a flop. It's really a film to film basis.

I actually think a remake of the Shining makes more sense and then do the sequel, unless you have Jack back. It's Bladerunner 2 all over again IMO

DC Super Pets will be an animated feature based on the DC comics of the same name.

Suicide Squad will be a relaunch written and directed by James Gunn.

I don't think so. I agree with Thegun here, there is no such thing as "The King Factor", and Ewan McGregor has never been a draw. Nobody cares about him. And it's not a sequel to the Kubrick film. It's an adaptation sequel to the book, which was apparently different to the film. Maybe not a deal-breaker, but I think that will make a difference. Maybe not to the general movie-going audience, but to cinephiles it will, and let's face it Joe and Jane Popcorn aren't going to be the ones seeing this. It will be a similar audience to the Suspiria remake.

It's definitely going to be a quality film with Flanagan at the helm. And it will get to have its trailer with IT: Chapter 2 which will be great placement. It's not going to be a limited release type film and I'm sure not even a hair as polarizing as Suspiria. Should do pretty well but we will see how it looks when a trailer comes out. WB must be very pleased with the product to move it up to November and not leave it in January.

They pushed back production for #3 later this year. Doubt it'll be ready by then. But yeah, maybe it'll be 2021.

Universal has dated Blumhouse thriller Ma for May 31, 2019.

Quote:
Spencer stars as Sue Ann, a loner in a quiet Ohio town who one day is asked by Maggie (Diana Silvers), a new teenager in town, to buy some booze for her and her friends. Sue Ann sees the chance to make some unsuspecting, if younger, friends of her own, and offers them the chance to avoid drinking and driving by hanging out in her basement. Her hospitality quickly starts to curdle into obsession. Scotty Landes (Workaholics) and Taylor co-wrote the script.

Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, McKaley Miller, Corey Fogelmanis, Gianni Paolo and Dante Brown also star. Producers are Blum, Taylor and John Norris. Spencer Couper Samuelson, Jeanette Volturno and Robin Fisichella are executive producers.

Bond 25 moves to April 8, 2020.

Birds of Prey should've kept that Valentine's date.

Fast an Furious 9 moves back six weeks from April 10 to May 22, 2020 — the start of the Memorial Day weekend (up against Godzilla vs. Kong for now)

Bond 25 moves from Feb. 14 to April 8, 2020 (Easter Weekend, F9's old spot)

A Bond movie on Easter? Then again, I didn't know its original date was President's Day.

Heh, maybe I've just become accustomed to the "holiday" release date of November. Bond, perhaps due to the Britishness, always struck me as a "winter" season movie alongside Harry Potter and fantasy movies. Also certain sci-fi and animation movies may fit that tone as well.

Weird for it to move to much earlier in the year.

Post subject:  Re: Release Date Change Thread

Neither of those dates strikes me as a good date for Bond 25. It's either a summer release (June or July) or a winter one (Nov or Dec). Nothing else makes sense for me.

Just checked the schedule and unsure what it is afraid of there - also BOM's schedule must be off.

How will there be 4 or 5 Sony Animation movies in 1 year? I wonder if there's a better date aggregator, though having said that, it's a bit ridiculous how far in advance studios have staked out dates since Marvel descended upon the scene.

So many untitled tentpoles. I wonder if there are even movies existing in concept before a release date is claimed.

Yeah it joined the exodus from Nov 2019 along with Wonder Woman.

On a related note, Dune (Denis Villenueve) receives a November 20, 2020 release date.

I'd say it would have received a December date if it wasn't for Avatar.

Post subject:  Re: Release Date Change Thread

I think November or December is where Bond should remain but April is probably better than a summer slot.

BK - the 2020 schedule is still under formed - a few strong titles but a mass of films that won't happen (or will be moved).

I'm sure Master of the Universe will be delayed until 2020 too, maybe later.

Masters of the Universe is already delayed, as far as I'm aware. Just BOM hasn't updated it.

WB blinked and moved Godzilla vs. Kong up to March 13th. A wise decision, even if F&F’s domestic numbers continue to fall.
