 Re: Release Date Change Thread The Craig Bond era has alternated between triumphs and disappointments, so perhaps the trend will continue with this one (and it will rebound from Spectre's soft reception as Skyfall did from Quantum of Solace's). Boyle directing is incredibly exciting.
And the 007 franchise is a curious beast. It frequently defies conceptions of fatigue and gaps and how good or bad the predecessor was (and finds new ways to plug into the zeitgeist). Consider Die Another Day's leap from the steady grosses of Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough.

Re: Release Date Change Thread Odd move for Under the Silver Lake (the Andrew Garfield neo-noir from the director of It Follows). Chances are it will not be a significant hit regardless of season, but it seems uniquely vulnerable to being overshadowed in December. The end of the year always a sea of high-profile, mostly well-reviewed specialty releases.

Re: Release Date Change Thread Yeah, Alita is going to get murdered in that spot. It was better in its original summer slot. It could move to the end of August. That would give them 2 months to market it. Most films don't really turn on the machine until 4 weeks out anyway.

Re: Release Date Change Thread Operation Finale has moved up to the Wednesday before Labor Day. Good move. Serious adult films tend to do solid over this stretch. Plus it's less crowded than when it was going to release.
