Re: Release Date Change Thread
Every other day it seems there are rumors for a new Bond, then they confirm Craig for one more. Then rumors about new actor start again, then Craig gets confirmed again. At this point I expect Craig to pull a Dr. Who and regenerate into a new actor in the new movie.

Wonder Woman 2 - December 13, 2019
I forgot that Star Wars Ep. IX opens in May not December. That leaves Wonder Woman up against Masters of the Universe the following week + an untitled Disney fairytale and Wicked over Christmas.

Paramount moves Bumblebee to December 21, 2018... against Aquaman. Pretty fucking stupid date.

Pretty stupid move. It would have been better off in August or September.

I just mentioned the same in other thread an August or September release would have been great for it as those two months will give it a clearer path to rule the month. Its not magically increasing from a $140m grosser to $300m grosser.

No way it could keep the original date in June, 2018. Choosing to go head to head with Aquaman certainly was headline-grabbing. They got people talking about the film and could still change the date later.

I hope the delay is more in terms of reception and receipts of TLK and not because they were not able to keep the schedule.

Pacific Rim: Uprising moves to March 23, 2018. Guess it didn't want to be close to Black Panther but there are already 4 other wide releases on that date, it's also a week before Ready Player One.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Looks like studios will be over burden March and let August be a dumping ground from now on.
Pacific Rim wont do all that well anyway.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
It is a shame about August. It used to be a great month, but then I guess that's why it is referred to as the dog days of summer (or is it not?).

Re: Release Date Change Thread
August has usually been a month of halves - strong first half and dumping ground second half. However, this years crop is miserable compared to yesteryear.
Studios embraced the month in the late 90s and then seemed to abandoned it. The period 1998 to 2003 contributes to the top 5 August monthly aggregate grosses of all time (adjusted). Of late - only 2014 and 2016 come close.

Alex Garland's Ex Machina follow-up Annihilation starring Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac opens February 23rd 2018 (a week after Black Panther).

I don't know if that movie is suited for a Feb release. I thought they will release it during Awards season.

It's too small of a movie for it to matter when it opens.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
It's not award worthy. It's Internet sensation worthy, like Drive, Ex Machina, Kick-Ass etc.
