The Interpreter is getting many bad reviews from test-screenings.

It will be lucky to gross more than $20 million (total gross) .

I am skeptical of Underworld 2's new release date. Didn't this just fail miserably for Blade: Trinity?

The Manchurian Canidate got terrible reviews from test-screenings as well  And guys, no way will Valiant be #1, if it even opens by then. The ads make it look very British, the plot is rather dark, none of the names have any pull, and we still have yet to get any American marketing on this one. The Amittyville Horror will probably open to 10 million more then it does.

Feb. 18th: Constantine 28 million
Feb. 25th: Cursed 21 millin
March 4th: The Pacifier 32 million
March 11th: Robots 40 million
March 18th: The Ring Two 79 million
March 25th: The Ring Two 36 million
April 1st: Sin City 22 million
April 8th: Sahara 20 million
April 15th: The Amityville Horror 26 million
April 22nd: The Interpreter 21 million
April 29th: xXx 2: States of the Union: 51 million

I only remember I bad review in AICN for The Manchurian Canidate .

However, I have seen several bad reviews of "The Interpreter" from different sources.

And then, The Manchurian Canidate only get $20 million opening weekend, why this movie can enjoy $21 million opening?

The movie was stated to open in Fall 2004(Oscar season). Finally, Universal moved this movie to early 2005.... Not a good sign.... :???:

Well for one, Dimension often has last minutey ad campaigns. And I've actually seen this trailer on every single horror movie I've watched since Blade 3. White Noise, Hide and Seek, Boogeyman, and even Alone in the Dark (haha) had the trailer, along with a number of other films I've seen. Give it time before you ask for TV ads, it doesn't come out for another two months.

MGM releases this movie in US, not Dimension.

The Amityville Horror looks very similar to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It'll do those numbers atleast.

We didn't see commercials for Cursed two months ago either, so let's wait and see how they handle it near the end of March.

I haven't seen the trailer played once, although the only films I've seen that resemble horror have been Blade 3 and Hide and seek.

Ewan Mcgregor and John Cleese are bigger names than the guy from "2 Guys and a Girl and a Pizza Place" and that english wife from "Alias"

The most exciting battle is between The Weather Man and Sin City.

One an adult drama with a popular star and a director on a roll which has been getting a lot of trailer time

One a weird little cult movie with some popular stars and a director who is known for making little cult movies.

I say if The Weather Man gets good reviews (70%ish at RT as an example) then it can own that weekend.

I want to see them both, that will be a busy weekend for me.

Other comments:

- I so no reason why Constantine can't take two weeks with Cursed being it's only competition.

- Be Cool should easily trump The Pacifier... easily.

- Robots will win on March 11th, sure, but The Upside of Anger should really pull a respectable total.

- Ring Two is going to be so undeniably huge that it will be sickening.

- May 6th will be an amazing weekend.

If you think horror movies need big stars to open big, then Dawn of the Dead, The Grudge and TCM would like to have a word with you. :-p You can argue kids films don't, and it's true to an extent, but there needs to be a reason for parents to go too. And I can't see a movie about World War II being a big hit among the kiddies.

Goofy CGI cartoons baby! Goofy CGI cartoons= cha ching. They are a much better investment than horror films. No CGI kid movies have bombed so far and even the ones with creeeepy looking kids that make Michael Jackson drool made over 160 million dollars

Yeah, but Robots will have only been out for a month, and The Polar Express had a HUGE ad campaign and tie in marketing, was based on a famous book, had one of the biggest stars of modern history in it, amazing WOM, and was the only Christmas movie that season that didn't get under 10% on RT. And it still bombed opening weekend. And Valiant doesn't even have any domestic posters, trailers, not even a teaser trailer! I doubt it'll open by April 15th, and if it does, it'll be a very muted release. I mean, this IS a British movie, how many British imports (especially ones aimed at kids) do that well?
