Considering it's cast, you're not going to make that type of film much cheaper. Still, it might not make it's money back just from domestic only.

$20m Escape Plan 2: Hades

Post subject:  Re: Production Budgets

Cool, fine and pretty safe budget.

Stallone must have been the single most costliest expense though I can only imagine.

What was Escape Plan's budget?

Post subject:  Re: Production Budgets

LA Times reported it was $70m back in 2013, but everywhere else says $54m.

Ah cool.

So how much do you think Stallone and Arnold got paid for that? And was it even, I guess so.

For Hades I imagine Stallone must have gotten something like $2 million (total guess by the way, but at least 10% of the budget feels right).

I really have no clue. These are just thoughts:

Not sure he would have gotten out of bed for $2m. I'm thinking closer to $5m. He is THE star. They are promoting it as a Stallone movie. Whether he's the real lead or not is besides the point. To be able to promote it as a Stallone film will cost them, and really does the film look like it costs $20m? I guess it does, but it was shot in Atlanta, which is cheap, and it features loads of cheap actors (Metcalfe, Chatham, Chinese girl, Xiaoming, that warden) so Stallone and Bautista are the only ones getting a real paycheck out of this. I'd say Stallone is getting $5m and Bautista is getting $3m. Everyone else is getting under $1m. Xiaoming would do it for much less because he wants to become an international star and this is how he thinks he will do it (but he will never become an international star because he has no talent).

Cool, thanks for those thoughts, that does sound very plausible.

I'm pretty clueless about what actors (can) earn nowadays, but it's interesting in terms of films' overall budgeting.

I read somewhere Stallone was paid $10m for Escape Plan so, if he's not getting anything less than $5m for Hades, where he really has a lot less to do also, that makes sense.

I do wonder also, how these actor contracts are generally set up in terms of the work responsibilities and time put in.

Like is there ever a situation where an actor would say; "Hey, I didn't sign up for this".

Post subject:  Re: Production Budgets

The film doesn't get made without Stallone, so he's taking the lion's share of the acting budget.

btw, LAT can't be accessed anymore from Europe - it would be great if someone else would check the LAT for movie budgets...

IMDB has 2012 budget at 260m. Wiki has it at 225m.

While neither is a great source...I think it's safe to assume that the film cost at least 215m+.

Roland Emmerich said in an Interview with a German magazine that 2012 cost $200m and he's very proud of the fact that the movie was produced with so little money...

Directors almost always low-ball the budget when asked.

Hi first time poster. So I will be going at very old post read for the first time.

2012 was 195.807m net production cost according to Sony leaked information during the hack.

Can someone explain to me why Cleopatra was considering a flop when it made close to 500 million dollars adjusted with 300+ million adjusted budget....

The press was obsessed by domestic box office at the time, yet to adjust to international business and big TV revenues made by movies, still going with traditionnal view from when only theatrical and pretty much only domestic counter. Fox apparently made all is money back when they sold the movie to TV.

There is not much good data for that era world box office but from what we can find Cleopatra was a giant intl, not too far from Bond or The Jungle Book:

The press of the time just didn't care I would imagine.

So we got ourselves a new most expensive film ever by nominal value (wiki told me POTC: OST cost 412 adjusted)

We will have to wait, but if this company was not made by Disney to put the expense and get the tax credit of both avenger movies together:

ASSEMBLED PRODUCTIONS III UK LIMITED

And just part One, it has a good chance to beat POTC, we will probably know before the end of this year.

Welcome to the forums Barnack.

Guys, Barnack was an active member of the IMDb forums before they shut down. You can find him on BOT. Few people know budgets and break-even calculations more than he. Check out the Derby if you feel so inclined Same idea as the BOT one.

Creed II received $16.7 million in tax credits for shooting in Philadelphia.

I'm interested if the budget that will eventually be reported has already deducted the credits or not. I can see both sides but not sure how it works.

Well, the stunts won't be cheap, but it's shooting all over the world that ramps up the cost, plus the salaries for all involved as this franchise is going from strength to strength.

It was reported long back that Meg was expensive so it's not a big surprise but after seeing the movie I'm not sure where the money went. Probably because of delays??
