Meet The Fockers and Oceans 12 were both over estimated quite a bit over the weekend. Will Oceans 12 even make it over £10million? it could be front loaded. Racing stripes opened better than expected with over a million and should do well over the next couple of weeks as schools are off next week in the UK (or at least they are around me). Excellent drop for Creep, second best in the top 15 which for a horror like this is great. Excellent for Sideways, small screen count increase and it rises with awards buzz.

Ocean's Twelve did not pick a great week to open in the UK, i'm not sure why they have delayed it this long when they could've opened it a few weeks earlier and get the advantage over Fockers. It could easily take out movies like Aviator and Closer.....

The opening was a dissapointing -12.3% down on O11 in US$ and a larger -33% in british pounds......

A couple of notes: Meet The Fockers will enter the top 100 all time next weekend and could eventually climb up to number 25 with good legs. Looks like Closer and Aviator will just miss out on £10 million now (roughly the equivalent of $100 million in US in terms of success).

Great for Meet the Fockers!! I am surprised they announced a sequel to White Noise before a sequel to Meet the Fockers!

HIDE AND SEEK will be number 1 this weekend, i rekon.

Nice to see BOOGEYMAN has also started advertising. During DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, nice choice.

Yeah hide and Seek should make enough to take the top spot, maybe a little under £2million?? about the same as White Noise i would have thought.

Yeah...and BOOGEYMAN will do the same again next weekend.

No surprise Hide and Seek opened ahead of Focker's fifth weekend, slightly disappointed with the number though, should have done close to 2 million, it opened slightly lower than White Noise and has the 4th biggest opening of the year. Not good for the other openers, but pretty much as expected. Spanglish officially flopped in the UK, even with a relatively wide release it only made £308,414 for 11th place.

Surprising to see Laura's Star at number one, but this was a kids film that opened poorly the week before the kids holidays, so that sort of explains its good legs. Incidentally Sideways would be number one on the list (with a multiplier of over 7) but it opened in less than 100 theatres and then expanded.

Fockers total takes it up to number 36 all time in pounds and should finish its run in the top 30, just ahead of Spiderman and Shrek. Hopefully Million Dollar Baby will get a theatre boost next weekend (currently in 84 theatres and only took £59,938 last weekend)

Looks like i was right in predicting HIDE AND SEEK would be number 1!

BOOGEYMAN will top next weekend with £1,200,000.

Hitch's opening date seems to be different on each website i look at... i take it it's the 11th march not 4th the BBC website says??

If so then yeah Boogeyman should open with just over a million... looks like a pretty slow weekend.

'Hitch' gets rich in overseas boxoffice

SYDNEY -- The love doctor gave international audiences the right prescription this weekend, when moviegoers in 25 markets turned out in droves to see "Hitch." The Will Smith comedy was the No. 1 film at the international boxoffice, earning $21 million from 2,955 screens, according to estimates. Meanwhile "Hide and Seek" beat "Hitch" in Spain, "Boogeyman" triumphed in the United Kingdom, "Ray" basked in its post-Oscar glow, "Shark Tale" kept thrashing in Italy, and "Meet the Fockers" passed $200 million internationally. "Hitch" opened in Germany to a massive $9 million on 907 screens, 50% ahead of "Meet the Fockers" in Week 3. Other No. 1 openings included Austria, with $1 million on 101 screens (42% market share); Switzerland, with $1 million on 75; and Australia, with $2.7 million on 373 (39% market share). In Spain, a close match saw "Hitch" come in second with $2.7 million on 377 screens, behind "Hide and Seek." "Hitch" worked its magic in Singapore earning $550,000 from 35.

Excellent for Boogeyman taking the weekend in the UK, and also amazing opening for hitch in Germany!

Boogeyman will fall fast though. Once all you UKers realize (like us in America have) how bad the film is.

Looking at BOM INTL.... Boogeyman grossed $1,493,376 from 1 territory. Meaning it grossed £780,205 to top the weekend in the UK.

BOMINTL also says it beat FREDDY VS JASON, which it never (£785,870 opening) And on par with Jeepers Creepers, which it's not (£1,069,346).

And about legs... HIDE AND SEEK must have fell over 50%

£780k to take number one? jeeez thats a slow weekend. I would imagine Hitch's previews on sunday would have been enough to take the weekend, i saw it last night and it was quite busy (about 80% full on one of the bigger screens).

Yeah, STARSKY AND HUTCH was one of the worst movies of 2004 if you ask me. Along side, Along Came Polly. Yeugh.

I saw a preview screening of Robots this afternoon

Overall i enjoyed Robots, i gave it a B. Very creative and visual, but with not much substance behind it. It did manage to make me laugh in quite a few places. The cinema was packed, as to be expected with a preview, should do good business next weekend.

I was really surprised how well Charlie and the chocolate factory went down, much better reactions than the other trailers.
