But the critic reviews will probably be similar to transformers since they are no into movies whose purpose is pure entertainment which is all about kickass visuals effects, awesome action and good comedy.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
Is it really opening Wednesday? I hope not as a Friday opening would make for a more potent OW.
I'd say $170-$220m is likely for this but not $250m.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
not that it has much to do with money, but a review is up on IMDB from a guy who went into enough detail for me to buy that he actually saw it, and he gave it a disappointed 4/10. he knew the Iron Man comics pretty well, and said that although the CGI was good, it was nothing more than mildly entertaining and ultimately forgettable.
of course, it's just one review, but I wouldn't be too surprised if this didn't have that great of a story following the whole opening bit about getting his powers.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
Hm, it'd need a $100 million opening to get there and it's not getting that, IMO. I think WoM will be good, but simply not good enough to stand the competition from Indiana Jones and Narnia.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
Well, I'm not sold on this just yet. I think it's heading for $85-90m OW, and a 2.8-2.9x multiplier's a lot for it with those dismal early May weekdays and the competition in subsequent weeks. But who knows?

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
I'm actually not going to count out this one. Apparently this is really, really good. I think it could actually have decent legs, and a weak 2nd weekend of May, as well as more family skewing Narnia, could give it 3 weeks to itself more or less. The Hulk club is not happening, but Iron Man might...

Downey Jr. was very funny on Letterman. I really do think this movie has breakout potential.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
I think it can do it now - from a $95-$100m opening. $240m is likely but I dont think $250m is a stretch for some of the reasons already mentioned...
Who would have thought Iron Man could possibly turn out bigger than X Men and second only to Spidey in terms of BO!!? Offcourse its yet to happen but has a good chance.

Damn i was half asleep on the couch and woke to see him on it but generally missed most of it. For some reason i was never keen on Downey but he won me over when he overcame his habit and starred in gems like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Zodiac. He's a blast in interviews and all round top guy it seems.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club-est.July 2007-VICTORY!
RDJ's Iron Man and Evans Captain America are both in my top 20 cinematic hero ever.
Pop culture shifted dramatically and rapidly in late 2007 through late 2008 as millennial came of age. Stark was walking charisma similar to Ledger's Joker, except he 1) didn't die, and 2) was one of the heroes the franchise would be built around.
