Re: Iron Man 250 million club
I think the reason why everyone is trying to gun this down is because TDK comes out this year. If it wasn't for that then everyone would be saying 200+ million but there are too many DC and WB gayfans here.

Personally, I don't see it being able to attract many outside of the comic fanbase. And it's not an established franchise either (movie wise). So it's going be heavily depending on the fanbase, hoping to attract some sort of audience outside of that. And with Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones, especially the latter, I don't think it'll have enough time to do that. Fantastic Four wasn't able to, Ghost Rider wasn't able to either, and they arent nearly as well known as Spider-Man or Batman, nor is Iron Man. So something between 125-175 is probably the most realistic, and likely prediction at the moment.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
I haven't done any research at all on this, but on the surface, at a quick glance, I'd say 175 looks about right for this, considering it's well recieved. I'll know for sure after much research and analysis while in meditation.

I can't speak on behalf of everyone, but both times I saw the teaser for this movie, members of the audience laughed at both the part where he comes out in the fake Iron Man costume and when he flies with the jets. That shit was just cheesy. Luckily, the new trailer's pretty kick-ass, so it won't bomb like I was earlier anticipating. But $250 million? A.k.a. the highest-grossing superhero film outside the Spider-man franchise? I think not. $150m is a great benchmark to set for this one.

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
Realistically it will probably have a pretty hard time hitting 150m, it's gotta have a lot of things go right ( high awareness, great wom, etc )

I see about 120 mil. Good chance people are sick of superhero movies and give it something like 80, though.

Shack wrote: I see about 120 mil. Good chance people are sick of superhero movies and give it something like 80, though. It'll definitely do better than that if it's received better than Van Helsing was.(I like Van Helsing) It opened at almost 52 million. I would think Iron-Man could top 70 with a good marketing plan. Below are the first weekend of May releases. The superheroes have really shined when opening the show in that first May weekend. Of course, Spider-Man and the X-Men are a bit more popular, but Marvel is a brand like PIXAR now. This is THE best release date of the year, and Marvel was lucky to get it for Iron-Man, their first venture into the world of producing movies. Kingdom of Heaven was misplaced badly, and Orlando Bloom's star was overestimated. (plus it had to deal with nobody caring about anything but Sith) 2002 - Spider-Man $114,844,116 2003 - X2: X-Men $85,558,731 2004 - Van Helsing $51,748,040 2005 - Kingdom of Heaven $19,635,996 2006 - Mission: Impossible III $47,743,273 2007 - Spider-Man 3 $151,116,516 Iron-Man is new (original), too, and I think that's something that's going to appeal heavily to those who are jaded by sequels. I have much more research to do, though.

So technically, if people are sick of superhero movies, then how is it you all think TDK is going to go through the roof if people are sick of this sort of thing?? It's the 6th BATMAN movie while IRONMAN is a fresh concept....

Re: Iron Man 250 million club
i think theyre getting sick of news ones; ie theyll be less willing to give this one a chance. theyll still eat up sequels to batman, xmen, spidey n co.

But the critic reviews will probably be similar to transformers since they are no into movies whose purpose is pure entertainment which is all about kickass visuals effects, awesome action and good comedy.
